Summer course just opened on Saturday and hit 77 with 23 putts (8 on Back nine). Today hit 76 with 35 putts. You would think if I put my putting from Saturday to today's round I would have shot 65!!!!

Goes to show that stats can be misleading

Saturday GIR 3/18 Up/down 10/15.

Today GIR 12/18 and Up/downs 2/6.

Nice round. I’ll need the course slope and rating, when you have a moment to add it to your post.

Oh and I'm leading. First out the gate.

Also played Barassie in Ayrshire yesterday. It is just up the coast from Troon as it prepares for the Open.  Shot 85 but with a slope of 137 ended up with 13 strokes so ended up nett 72. I usually get a nose bleed on courses longer than 6500 and we played Whites at 6800. So happy with my 3 rounds so far this week.

Second round of the year. Performed better than usual off the tee, but had troubles on two of the par 3 holes with double-bogeys and made two quad-bogeys on par 5s...

EDIT

In the message is fine. In the next few weeks it will be added to the inputs when a score is posted, but for now I’m asking folks to include it with their score posts.

much appreciated!

Started off ok, though a little weak.  Things were going as planned to hit net par until the wheels fell off on the last three holes.   The whole back 9 was a bit more of a scramble as my normally trusty 4 wood tee shot stopped going straight, and putting took a dive.  Hopefully will have a better score to share this weekend.  Horribly beautiful day in the low 60's with plenty of sun and fresh cut grass.

I've been off for a week visiting family in Rochester and Cooperstown, New York.  It was in the 30's at times, so it's great to be back in the Key West "heat."  It was a stark reminder of the environment I was born, raised and had my career in!

Given my lack of distance, I've migrated to the gold tees over the last several months which have a rating of 67.7 and slope of 124.  Between the men's white and senior gold tees, it's just over 500 yards difference.  I probably shoot a couple of strokes better from the golds but enjoy the game significantly more.

For today's round, I had a great day getting up and down!  I hit 86% of my fairways, 17% of my greens in regulation (up one for me) and a solid six up and downs (on was a chip in for par).  As usual, my short game saved me.  Six up and downs for par (which included a sandy par and a no putt chip in from the fringe) and four up and down bogies (which could have been a lot worse without that one putt).  My two doubles were well deserved:  bad fairway wood into the trees from the middle of the fairway and pitching the ball short into a trap.

After a week off, I guess I can't complain!

Another "what if" round, lol.  Struck the ball SO well, in general, especially off the tee where I seem to have figured a little something out to give myself a lot more fairways.

As @Syks7 said in his "How'd you play" post, the course is just a delightful test of making sure you put yourself in the right places.  There were at least two holes, in particular, where I was faced with effectively an impossible shot (for instance, left myself on the right side of a green that funnels HARD from that side down to the left, with the pin placed halfway down the hill.  Only way to stop it would have been to bang it off the stick (which I missed by about 2" - my ball went right over the right edge of the hole), and even then I'm not sure it really would have helped much), and paid the price for it.

Not to mention the hole that effectively broke me, lol, the par 4 16th, where I left my drive out to the right, and had to either punch it back to the fairway and take my most-likely-bogey, or (and this is the brilliant choice I made (smh) ) try to snap hook a five-wood 210 yards around a huge tree.  Yeah, so, that went OB, and then I was so pissed about that I flubbed the next one from 110 into the gorge that the first one went into.  So...not a great QUAD (not sure there IS a great quad, but yikes).

Anyway, I'm a HUGE fan of this course - it's VERY gettable if you miss in the right places, and I did a good job of that most of the day.  But the few places I missed bad, I really paid the penalty.

Can't wait to get back 🙂

Scorecard didn't ask for it, but longest drive was 289 (and I still bogeyed the hole, lol.  Stupid being right instead of left...)

Throwing my hat in there with @GolfSpy SAM.  Like he said, Soule Park is a great course that really prioritizes angles.  If you're in the wrong place relative to the green and pin you're in real trouble.... as in short sided chipping out of rough over a steep 3 foot tall berm onto a 4% downslope that's going to shoot your ball 20 feet by the hole unless you can nail a pinpoint flop.  (And if you fail the flop you either get to try it again or watch it sail into the river.)  See the attached diagram.  FYI Blue is 2% downslope 😆

Can't wait to play it again.

71.6/125 from the Orange.  Like Sam said it's gettable so I think the 71.6 is accurate.  The 125?  Probably not, there's a lot of  trouble and trickiness that could destroy a bogey golfer.  Slopes that funnel into hazards and such.

I should add that the cup absolutely robbed Sam on his putt.  More than 90º lip out.

The score submission form is a bit misleading.  It asks for gross strokes over/under par.  This is used to calculate what par is and therefore your net score.  In your case it should be 24.

I've been struggling with my irons all year, and for this round, I hit them much better. Game is trending in the right direction.

Appreciate you doing the flighting system. Makes the tour feel more inclusive for duffers like me.

Today was one of my more solid rounds. 6 pars, 8 bogeys, and 4 doubles. Yea !! No Triples!! I was watching Bryson Dechambeau at the Masters and noticed his more upright position. That is something I had somehow gotten away from. Since I play single length irons like him, I thought I would emulate him more in the setup and swing and it worked.

Thanks for the heads up on how to use the form. My first submission so no surprised I messed something up. Not to concerned though, because that was my worst round in a while so it’s probably not going to count for much.
