Looking back over the 10th, I can see why it gives you fits. Looks like a double dogleg with a lot of bunkers surrounding the hole. I couldn't tell, but that looks like a fairly narrow fairway and not much space to land in between the trees.

I have always referred to it as the Bermuda Triangle of golf. I can hit shots that I know are perfect and then never find the ball. Today was one of those days.

Come on over and we'll play it one day! I'm still planning on coming your way soon.

I wasn't sure if I'd get a round in, so I avoided partnering with the competitors, but I did get 18 holes in for the 4 club challenge.

Brought Dr-4h-8i-52°-P

I rode 9 holes yesterday and walked 9 today. Managed 42-43 for net +3.

Bag review has been added. I love the bag so it was easy! I also added some preliminary numbers to my putter review. As I’ve had my putter for much less time than others, I’m still working on getting comfortable with it. It may end up in the bag, it may not. I will keep posting in the thread on that process of my testing.

Took out a 58* and hit a beautiful sand shot to within 3 feet. Left the putt short for another bogey. Next up was a par 5. I hit a good tee shot and then she blistered one straight as an arrow 30 yards past me. I know her tee box is further up, but this was a bomb. She parred the 6th hole with a 30-foot putt. I'll skip the play by play, for the rest of the round but it seems there is a new "Nut" in the house. She wants to play the mixed twilight league with me as her partner.  

Just crazy how things turn out sometimes. It started from me asking her to come and count strokes for me for the challenge, to getting a job working in the pro shop, and now getting hooked on golf and wanting to play with me. Just such a special time in my life. She could have asked her brother who is only a year older golfs and works at the course on the grounds crew, but she wanted to play with me.  

Here is a short video of her swing with an 8 iron. Dead center on the grid, 145 yards out. Left arm nice and straight. Dam athletes. They make everything look so easy. We all know this isn't that easy.

... "No offense but" is usually a prelude to something offensive. So I won't say it. SB wedges. Lots of review descriptions included "click" or "clicky" and even a "harsh" and then there is my "clacky" and I doubt anyone finds that a term of endearment. Perhaps I am spoiled by the soft forged wedges I have played through the years including Scratch wedges that were forged from 1018 carbon steel, and it doesn't get any softer. So really no offense intended but ...

I was going to say the same thing @Jnoble89, plus I'm jealous of that 8 iron carry distance. 

I am glad she wanted to get out and play with you @Tom the Golf Nut. I know it makes you both happy and proud as a father and I hope this is just the start of something wonderful.

Finished reading your guys' thoughts on the wedges and the bag, well done! I agree with a few of you about the full face groove wedges, just by viewing your pictures they do look a little odd to me, but they seem to eat up the ball with some great spin. As for the bag, it looks like a steal at the current sale price. I do wish they added the velcro strip for your glove, though.

Anywho, y'all killed the C³

... I will have to check with the Mods but I hope to auction off both my wedges and donate the proceeds to Feeding America. I will match whatever they sell for so that doubles the donation. Recoil 95 shafts and I hate to see the SB's go to waste as someone that needs or wants more spin and likes a crisp feel will enjoy them. Win for Feeding America, Win for Cobra and Win for a MGS member.

So what do I have to do to get this spin that everyone keeps talking about?  I've played Nitros to ProV1s, and Pinemeadows to SM7s and Snakebites.  I don't think I've ever gotten a ball to check up.  I always have to play for the roll out.

I'm not the expert here, but I think it has something to do with angle of attack, speed, clean grooves, and a premium ball. 

I did have a hard time with the Snakebite wedges and getting them to bite. I think the conditions here were too dry early on and then playing limited club rounds I missed out on when they were the most receptive. 

Plus, I'm shallow coming in to the ball and I believe that you need to be steeper to get some check. I could be wrong, though.

Hold down and tap A as the ball is in the air...

But forreal, @sirchunksalot nailed it. In theory, as long as you are hitting down on the ball and hitting the ball before the turf you should generate some spin.

... @Jerry B along with these two excellent answers, you need to put 70% of your weight on your front foot, place the ball even with the inside of your back foot keeping your front arm and shaft in a straight line. Then just swing straight through the ball. There is no need to consciously hit down because with most of your weight on your front foot and a forward shaft lean the club head bottoms out after the ball with a descending angle of attack.

Hoping to get 18 in this afternoon before scramble league tonight. Going AJ Max driver and King 3D Supernova putter and planning on keeping the putter in the bag for the next few weeks to see if I can get more comfortable with it. Love the way it rolls the ball and overall putted well with it over the past weekend. 

I've got a buddies trip the third weekend of August and we have three rounds planned. I may end up taking both drivers and putters and doing a round by round rotation. Going to try to get some more H2H before then in the evenings and play two balls, two drivers and two putters.

Work always gets busy at the wrong times when it comes to forum time!   Took a while to catch up but you fellas are still doing a great job!  Managed to get an iron only round in with you guys which was a blast.  Now I am going to try to sneak a 4 club round in this week.

I think you'll enjoy it, the challenge of deciding which clubs to bring is part of the fun. I think if I were to do it over, I would probably put the 4 hybrid or 5 wood in the top of the bag. I lost some balls where if I was a bit longer of the tee they would have cleared the trouble. 

I'm not going to complain about shooting 105, that's better than 90% of my rounds over the last year. 

I can't wait to hear how you play!

A buddy of mine that got into golf last year was talking last night about wanting to upgrade his bag pretty soon. I told him I knew a few gents that really liked the Cobra bags, and that they’re on sale at the moment.

So… thanks to you all, it was a pretty easy recommendation. I think he’s going to pick one up.

Didn’t have time to get 18 in today before league but did get 9 in and shot a personal best 44 on the back 9. 16 total putts with the 3D Supernova including one three putt that was due to a lack of focus. Had one penalty stroke and was able to one putt bogey the hole which was huge, and hit the AJ Max driver respectably well. Longest drive was 277 and had another that was 261, which is right on pace with the TSi3. Biggest win was that I didn’t miss a single tee shot left. I was popping some up but I am trying really hard to hit up on the ball. They weren’t skied off the crown, but just really high on the face and still went 225ish typically. Probably means I’m still coming in too steep at times but overall was really happy with tee shots. 

What I may be the most excited about is that I am starting to come around on the King Tec Hybrid. On my least favorite hole of the course, I hit a 222 yard tee shot that left me with 142 yards to the pin. It’s a tight dogleg left that I typically never play well. Hit it pure and it felt incredible and the ball was smoking hot off the face. Sadly this was my 3 putt hole after getting a GIR and just not giving enough focus and respect to my second putt.

I played respectably well in league tonight as well, made three par putt saves which was big as we both hit tee shots OB on one hole and doubled it then followed that hole with a bogey. Snuck one birdie in so we were gross 38, net 34. Hit another mashed tee shot with the King Tec Hybrid that was roughly 225 during that round.
