A really really rough front, followed by a fantastic back with two dud holes at the end. Sank a 31 footer for birdie!!! Super exciting back 9, got so excited I lost it entirely on the last two holes. Really wish I hadn't realized I had an actual shot of being under 40 through 9.

New Ody Versa was lights out again, absolutely loving it. No 3 putts on the round! Hit a few long putts to save par/bogey. Otherwise left the long putts short for tap ins, Ill take that anyday! Not the best final score but overall was a pretty good day out with the guys! Hit 53% FIR and 22% GIR. Working on getting my GIR up this season. Thats my main goal. Approach shots felt good but short game/chip shots were far from ideal. A weak point in my game I cant seem to figure out. About 5-6 chunked chips that could have lessened the score but instead added to. Felt a lot better off the tee box then normal so thats a great feeling! Hoping to continue that.

Play was slooooow ahead of us. All in all it was good to catch up with the guys on the tee box while we waited!

Excited to post my first score here and looking forward to the upcoming weeks!

Best round of the short golf season.  Positive strokes gained in driving, short game, and putting, but I'm struggling a bit with my irons for some reason.  Still extremely happy with a 74 this early in the season.

I think you filled in the form with the wrong Gross Score to par. -1 gross would indicate your 74 was on a par 75?

Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks

What can I say? 15 GIR today. The pause at the top of the backswing is working. I also had 5 putts lip out and 1 wedge from 77 yards lip out.

These were net birdies and didn’t count today. I played with a different group. They were all “A Players”. No strokes given. The best was a plus 4, and he shot a 66 with a hole-in-one on a hole I birdied. I held my own and won some cash, although there were some side bets where some serious change traded hands. I did not participate in those because I’m not that stupid.

Full disclosure. They played the tips and I played the “Senior” tees. But since they all drove the ball 280+ and I fly it about 210 average, I feel no guilt. Plus everyone of them have 2 good legs. It should be noted that even with me playing 2 tees up from them, I out drove them twice.

This week I hit golf balls five days in a row.  For me, that's a lot (even given my online name).  In between my two men's league rounds I played the back nine of our course with irons only to get a better feel for the Callaway Paradym X irons I am reviewing.  Then it was off to Jacksonville for a meeting which included golf at The Slammer and Squire course at the World Golf Village.  We also took a tour of the Hall of Fame which was right next door.

The meeting had "more mature" golfers, so I agreed to play the forward tees.  I have to say, I really enjoyed it.  My greens in regulation doubled.  It took a while to get used to the significantly faster greens.  I had 31 putts in total, but that really didn't tell too much of the story.  I had no three putts and two putted from 44 ft., 74 ft. and 90 ft.!  I hit the new Paradym X irons better than I had and took home medal honors.

My home course, Key West Golf Club, has very narrow fairways.  The Slammer and Squire seemed so wide that I couldn't miss...and I didn't!  I hit 100% of the fairways.

image.png.37f60b18a3a5f47e1f277b68a78699e9.png

I felt really good coming off the 18th hole on how well I played.  Then I looked up my handicap from the forward-ish tees and found out I lost six strokes due to the course rating and slope.

It still felt great feeling finally hitting the ball with some level of consistency.  I followed that round up with hitting another 70 plus balls on a college driving range the next day.  I'll be writing about that tomorrow on the Paradym iron test thread.  I made it back in one piece.  With two days of rest, hopefully I can recreate some of the magic I had on next Tuesday's round!

The hole in the pic is #13, it was down wind and I did NOT drive the green. I was about 12-15 yards off the green, in the fairway. But the lie was so tight I figures a Texas wedge was my best chance at birdie. I over read the 13' birdie putt but got a classic 3 putt par.

Good to be back on the course - and back in the VCT even if I did spot everyone a full month head start... Its been six months since I've been on the course between the hip replacement back in November, a long winter, and pesky work commitments I haven't been able to get on course to play until this weekend.  Been taking Skillest lessons and swinging a club and Stack indoors all winter, and visited a sim a few times and of course the range.  But that just isn't the same as getting out and walking eighteen holes.  Good to be back.

Tonight was a beautiful night for a walk.

Third time was the charm at getting GolfShot to record correctly off my AppleWatch. Posted my experience in that thread.

First early morning tee time, couldn't get my body going until hole 7. Ended up going +8 on the front 9. Everything started to click on hole 8, hit my drive according to the course, 356 yards. Could be a little skewed but 330-340 isn't out of normality. Then hit my 2 hybrid into the green about 255 and gave myself an eagle Pitt. Every course around here has decided that Sundays actually call for Sunday pins, so on a slope the flag will go. I threw putt for par and this begins a train of 3 3 putts over 4 holes. Couldn't get my putter to trigger today, greens were slow oddly enough but it did just rain the night before. Finished strong with a +2 on the back 9, a couple more birdie putts but never drained them.

Shoutout to @Randall Robbins for having the low gross score relative to par. That's the REAL number!

Thanks! That one was special. The Paradym ∆∆∆ has transformed my driving, not even comparable to the X2 Hot I was using a month ago

That's awesome, man. Those Paradym drivers have been so good this year. Callaway really knocked it out of the park with that club. Been tempted to hit the demo at my country club just for the heck of it, but I've got the Aerojet Max coming in for the Cobra challenge so I'm going to try to hold off. Maybe do some head to head testing if they will let me, though!

Decent round out there for me today, not anything spectacular except the driver was ON. Had a 343 drive and a few more in the 330s as well straight and in the fairway

Again like my ridge at castle pines round had a decent outing with the driver being lethal off of the tee. Much less FIRs and that led to some really hard shots into the green since the rough was really grabbing that day.

I bet you'll see bigger numbers with the Aerojet then Paradym. Those aerojets are low spinning monsters from the numbers I've been seeing. Even the Paradym, at 9° with the 14g weight at the front was too low, too hot and too fast. I grabbed the 10.5° and set the 14g at the back with the 2g upfront and it became a menace. Don't be afraid to try things on that aerojet as it seems manufacturers really have gone very low spin. If I wasn't using a Smoke Black shaft, it might be different too. Can't wait to hear about your aerojet, they look like mach jets IMO

I’m definitely curious to see what it’ll do! I had a really solid driving day with my TSi3 yesterday and when I hit it on the screws all I can think is “man, how’s this going to be topped?” It’s gonna be fun!

Back to my old round tracking app. There was an update while I was gone and I like the improvements. UI is a little cleaner and easier to use. I don't use it much but when I did, it was better than before.

However, this was a nightmare round. I was cursed until #15 with a continuous streak of either bogey or birdie. Unfortunately, it was more bogey than birdie.

#15 I broke the streak playing a side game with my group. Tee shot was short, couldn't get my 2nd shot across the pond in the wind. Walked off with a double cheeseburger.

Long "drive"
First a question: Does it have to be a Driver and what if it stopped in a water hazard? I think my next best tee shot was 299 but I got 319 to where I dropped after hitting this one to the creek.

Moral of the story, yes you can still shoot in the 80s with 13 bogeys and a double. Here's hoping I can do better next round.

The TSi is such a great driver, I don't see much difference between it and TSr. I have hit the TSr3 and it didn't seem as long as the Paradym.

It’s gonna be a really fun matchup between the TSi3 and Aerojet Max. I think the Max will definitely help me with the added forgiveness. When I miss off the heel or toe just a little too far, I can lose 30-40 yards on tee shots with the TSi.

I also LOVE the shape of TSi3, and I know the AJ Max has a bigger footprint, so I’m curious to see how my eye will adapt to that. I hit the standard AJ during my fitting and loved the shape but the forgiveness was just not there (nor was my swing 😂)

One thing is always certain, Titleist makes a great looking club. Those heel and toe strikes are unfortunate though, I do hope the AJ improves that for you

Thanks! The TSi does a good job of making the slight misses fly still relatively straight, but the distance loss is tough. Gonna be fun to compare the two!
