CFreddie
No shipping notification yet, but so excited for this to get underway! I plan to take these out and compare to my normal “gamers” - MaxFli Tour Xs and Kirklands. I also have some ProV1s / V1xs to see how they feel around the green. My buddy has a sim so I may be able to get some hard numbers as well! J7Hawkins
Super exciting! I can't wait to get my hands on these! To say that I have been doing my own testing of golf balls this year would be an understatement... Last year I mostly used a Vice Pro Soft but after being given a box of Titleist ProVs earlier this year I was awoken to the huge difference a ball can make! So, this year I have tried at least a dozen different balls and compared them mostly on course. Independently, I thought the two best balls for my game were the Titleist ProV1x and the Mizuno RB Tour X. When MGS released their golf ball testing data I was super excited to see both of those balls performed well in their testing as well and even had similar results. For this test, I will be trying the balls out on the course focusing on getting a feel for them in the three big areas of the game: off the tee, into the green (long iron), and around the green (pitch/chip shots & wedges inside 100). Popular Post Josh Parker
FedEx just showed up at the house! The dimple pattern seems to be slightly more spread out than the normal ProV1 or ProV1X and what looks like 3 different sizes. I'm looking forward to getting these out to the putting green tomorrow when my home course opens. It has a bit softer feel than either of V1 or V1X. Enjoy a few photos. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
Did some digging around my closet of balls. The dimple pattern looked to be similar to the TaylorMade TP5x but then found a new sleeve of Titleist AVX and as far as I can see the AVX and the TEST ball have the same pattern. I hit into the sim screen with a 9 iron and the ball feels like the AVX and Pro V1 do. The AVX, ProV1, and the Test ball feel similar off of the putter face as well. So the ball is not in the firm “X” category. If I get a chance tonight I’ll try to get some data off the MEVO. Leaving for business tomorrow morning for the rest of the week. golfinnut
FedEx had a delivery for me today as well. Initial impressions: Dimple pattern is as I expected, very similar to the AVX Fingernail test - seems harder than ProV1, but very similar to an older AVX No noticeable seam as on some balls (the "test" would usually be on it, but not always) Still no where to be found though Surprisingly soft off the putter. I was expecting a bit more of an audible click. Bouncing off the wedge face, louder vs the current AVX I believe if the feedback comes back positive, since this is a huge test, that Titleist brings this to production (they probably have already) & drop one from their lineup. Speed, Soft, Velocity or TruFeel I'll hopefully get out for some pitching, chipping in the coming days. As long as the weather holds out, I will play a round with them this weekend. Josh Parker
The dimple pattern appears to match the AVX ball almost identical. It does feel slightly softer than the AVX in a fingernail test as well as off the putter face but not by much. avx.mp4 Tomorrow will be chipping and putting for a bit and then taking it out to the course and playing it next to my gamer. Popular Post Cshane12
I got my white box today and already started messing with them. To me the initial look and feel are similar to that of the AVX, which is my former gamer. Due to the high cost of Titleist, I tried and ultimately switched to the Wilson Triad. The $15 per dozen cost difference seems worth it. So doing my comparisons, it will be against the Triad. Also, I putt with a non-insert putter, an Evnroll blade; for reference of feel off the putter face. Upon unboxing, I tossed the test balls onto the carpet along with three of the Triad balls. I tapped them around and initially it seemed the Titleist test ball felt and sounded softer, making a duller thud. The test balls also looked like they might be slightly whiter that the Triad. Again, this was inside in artificial lighting. I then conducted a very informal test on 3-6 foot putts on a tight cow hide rug on hardwood floors (closest thing I have to a putting mat). I set up with my eyes closed and had my wife randomly place the different balls down in front of the blade and I made a short putting stroke, starting with about three footers and slowing increasing to six footers. The result? I could not feel or hear a difference between the Titleist Test ball and the Wilson Triad on either center struck or off-center strikes. I will be getting out to the course this week to start some real world side by side tests. I'll also try and rent a bay at the golf shop to get some data for your entertainment. I'm looking forward to reporting my finding back to you soon. I have included a photo of these test balls along with the four ball models (ProV1x Left Dash, ProV1, 2023 Maxfli Tour X CG, and TM TP5x, which I added to the comparison mix once it was mentioned how much they resemble these Titleist “white box” test balls). I have a launch monitor session scheduled for Wednesday, where I will hit 30 to 50 yard partial wedge shots, full AW/PW shots, middle iron, hybrid, fairway wood and driver shots, recording launch, spin, peak height, carry and total shot distances for each ball model. Thursday, I will be taking the balls to the chipping and putting green for a short game (pitches/lob shots, chips and putts) comparison. Popular Post Parshooter36
I got home from work and found a box from Accushnet on the table. Like some others have posted, the dimple pattern on my test balls looks just like the AVX pattern. I dotted up one of the balls for my Uneekor QED to do some wedge testing. I tested it against an AVX, a Pro V1, and my gamer Chrome Soft. I hit 10 3/4 wedge shots with each which is typically a 60-65 yard shot for me. The test ball felt similar to the AVX, but definitely had a bit more spin. I also took a few full swings with my 9 iron which usually carries 130 yards. Again, the test ball spin rate was higher than the AVX. In fact, it was almost as high as the Pro V1. It is a small sample size, but some very interesting results so far. Preeway
My sleeve arrived in the mail today and I proceeded to waste no time in getting the testing started. The only lingering question was where to start. Since I don't get home until after dark these days, I'm resigned to focusing on putting for now. I'll try to hit some balls into my net later this week. The first step was rolling out some putts to compare against my two current gamers from Srixon and Mizuno using my Wellputt mat. After rolling roughly 50-60 putts it was clear that the Titleist test ball was very different than any Titleist I had ever played before. The feel was very soft, almost like an old school balata from back in the 80's. The feel was so different that I began to dig through all my indoor range balls comprised of a wide variety of balls I find on the course. I was pleased to discover that I had several different styles of Titleist balls to compare against. After another 25-30 putts, the test ball was clearly not a ProV1 or ProV1x that I was familiar with. But it was VERY similar in feel the AVX and also very close to the Tour Soft. But if I had to pick one, I would say this was a new version of the AVX. When visually inspecting them out of the sleeve it was obvious that the dimple pattern was also not akin to the ProV1 or ProV1x. At first I thought it was similar to the Bridgestone but not quite. But, it was very close to the pattern of one of the AVX balls I dug out of my range balls. This aligned with the feel I was getting from the AVX when putting too. I plan to test this ball on the chipping green at my nearby course this weekend and will be purchasing a sleeve of current model AVXs just so I can compare them side by side with those as well as comparing them against my current gamers. I'm eager to hear how other testers are coming along and whether anyone got a sleeve of something more similar to a different model. fixurpitch, TJ Hall, fixyurdivot and 6 others 9 Quote Driver: Aerojet LS, Ventus Velocore+ Blue Shaft - 6S 4 Wood: Rogue ST Max 16.5, Tensei White Shaft - 7S Utility Iron: Fli Hi 3-iron, HAZARDOUS Smoke Black Shaft - S Irons: JPX 921 Tour 4-P, Project X Shafts - Stiff 125g Wedges: 52º, 56º, 60º Putter: Ai-One 7 T CH, 34" Preferred Ball: Z-Star Diamond Pushcart: Nitron Rangefinder: Pro X3+
