14 Way Bags - Love em? Or Hate em?

Recommended Posts

I love dividers. In June of 23' I decided to replace my Taylormade 2019 Tour cart bag for a new Sun Mountain C-130 Cart Bag due to the tour bag's weight. That thing is heavy! This new 1, It has the full length dividers and is very well built and WAY lighter! Taylormade bag has 6 chambers and it was hard getting clubs in and out.

I love my TaylorMade 14 slot cart bag plenty of room for the clubs without him rubbing against each another. Plus the other pockets for storage. Love the cooler bag. Will keep six drinks cold for 2 hours with a ice pack or ice if you want to put it in. Two pockets for keys in such but I like most about these is you don't have to keep looking for your where your club is. It's third properly speeds up. The time looking for them. Great bag. Had other 14ers like to just as good the 5 and 7 slot bags. You would get your clubs tangled up too much. That's why I don't like about those.

The Bag Boy chiller has my attention, mainly due to the Top Lock compatibility with my Bag Boy Nitron cart. I like the idea of it being stable and not twisting at all during the round!

It is a superior bag. It’s just hard to travel with by plane. I travel a lot and got tired of switching bags every time.

Hot topic from our Community Call.

I just bought an Ogio 14 way bag, why wouldn't you like them? keeps my clubs separated and keeps them from banging into each other, if the sections are rubber then they won't run your graphite shafts but regular bags do that as well, no issues here...

Especially pull / push cart mafia.

100% this. I’m more of a 5 or 6 way divider guy when it comes to stand bags but I definitely prefer a 14 way divider bag for a cart bag.

I have a 15 way and really like how the dividers set up the clubs, even though the partitions are only 3 sections. The bag is a Vice cart bag, purchased from Walmart for $125 after they moved it to the wrong platform and was $270. Anyway, has plenty of pockets and is easy to use.

I have always used 5 way divider bags mostly because I like to walk and 5 way bags are much smaller and lighter. I also think they’re easier to clean and I’ve never had a problem with the organization piece for the 5 way divider.
Now that I use a pushcart or powered cart, I could probably look into the larger 14 divider bags. The NevrLooz bag caught my eye last year:

image.png.781a59fde9a0b70217fd909427f5000f.png
They’re not sexy, but seem extremely functional.  Anyone try one of these (I did not do a forum search yet)?

At least a couple Spies on the forum have them - @jnagel posted a glowing Unofficial Review last year.

I don’t necessarily mean this in a derogatory sense, but from a certain angle, the bag sort of reminds me of a gutted fish. Particularly when it’s full of clubs. Marketing the interchangeable pocket system as an ExoSkin probably didn’t help to dissuade that mental image. It also comes in silver if you really wanted to… go fish?

For me it depends on the purpose of the bag. I have a lighter stand bag that I use for walking/push cart, and then I have a cart bag. The stand bag has only 4 dividers and it's great for that purpose. The cart bag pictured below I picked up for Christmas and it has 15 way individual dividers that extend the length of the bag. It makes it easier to pull clubs out of a cart and put them back in. I love it.

I never understood the hate for the 14 way divider bag. I totally understand if you’re walking then the 5 way is probably best but as others have said, if you are carting I find the 14 way divider the only way to go. Always know where everything is and where everything goes.

I have a lighter 5 way divider bag for when I travel and need something lighter but for my home course it’s carts only and the 14 way bag is awesome.

Was just thinking of getting this type of bag honestly...

My old 5 way bag does not enjoy my oversized grips and makes it hard to pull 1 club quickly or easily most of the time. Specially if I'm walking!

In my early morning rabbit hole of research,  fascination with wanting a new bag, amazon searches, etc, another thing to consider is some of the companies say that the external putter wells, (and separate top putter slots) are not designed for oversized grips. So be mindful.

And I've realized there may be some compromise with features  vs price point.

Finding tons of 14/15 - TOP- divider options, but not alot with full length dividers to match (again, sub 150 price point)

Would a good top divider negate the need for it being full length to the bottom?

Also, do they make a of universal divider top to purchase separately, that would snap to the rain cover snaps maybe?

I'm in the "more dividers the better" camp. Full dividers, in fact, if you must know. I hate the incessant clanging and clanking of the ever-shifting clubs.

I've tried them all, 5 way, 3 way, 7 way, 14 way... I even had an insert that I bought years and years ago that would hold each club so it didn't rattle.

I have a Callaway 14 way now and it's....fine; works better on the pushcart than the stand bag.

I also have a Callaway stand bag that's a 5 way and it's also... fine; good for traveling and when riding in a cart since you can bring your bag to the range and not have it falling down all the time.

I won my golf league last 2 years and had shop credit; outside of a few shirts these were the only things I was interested in. I probably wouldn't have bought them myself.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever had a bag that I've *really* liked. Bags are hard to get rid of; I think I have 4 or 5 in my basement.

I can see @Getoffmylawn and @GolfSpy BOS sporting this soon

I'm a five way with the bag - old school I guess.....

I love to play golf, fish and take long walks. Living in GA gives me the opportunity to practice almost daily.

Really enjoy my Titleist Hybrid 14! has full length dividers, removable straps, large cooler pocket, range finder and several other pockets for gear. I mainly carry but it works great in a cart or on a push cart also. About 6.5lbs if I remember correctly. I carried a 160 rounds last season with zero problems from this bag.

I've got a 14 way cart bag that I use for storage. I tried it on the course more than once and it just didn't work out the way I wanted it to.

I'm fine with a 5 way divider, provided there's a putter well. I really want one of those on my next bag.
