What was your Shot of the Day?

Recommended Posts

Today my 5w shined. Had 2 shots with it that qualify.

Shot-1: 2'd shot on a par-4. Nailed it and though I sent it a little left, is was only short of the green by 10-yds.

Shot-2: Tee shot where anything longer for me will find water. Flushed it a little right this time (& dry), but in real good position for about a 135-yd approach shot which I promptly skulled into a hazard...😫

Absolutely exploded a 3w today. It pitched on the downslope of a mound so it got some extra roll, and a slight tailwind.

Second shot wasn't too bad either, but it didn't hold the green likely due to that same tailwind, idk. I was hoping to miss long because short was obviously dead. Up and down out of the bunker for birdie, the first birdie putt I made of the day, out of 7 tries, on hole 18

I’ve had 2 eagle putts this week of less than 20 feet. Missed them both...😒

But it’s the first times at my new club, only took me 5 months...

From this past Fridays round, two come to mind. First a 30+ ft chip in for birdie on the #1 handicap hole, and second a pair of drives (balls 1 and 2), that went right into position A+ on hole #7 within a few yards of each other.  You cannot see the landing area from the tee box.

Played the back and started 18 +2.  Bend a 6i of off the tee around the dogleg left. Pull a 4h figuring that would leave me a wedge  in to this par 5. Hit my worst shot of the day. Basically topped it leaving me 205 to stick..Over a creek as well. at green front.

Hit the 4h again and can see its online, but lose it thanks to a rise inte fairway. I see te ball take a big hop but lose it again. I walk up not sure if Im inte creek, rolled back downte false front or what. Get tote top of the hill and see my ball right at the stick. Keeps geting better and it ended up 2 inches from cup for an easy tap in +1 round. Im guessing my ball took a big hop whenit hit the false front.

I’m standing at the spot of my drive last week when I took this pic. Today is when I corked one way da flic down there... a good hit that gets over the edge of the hill will run down to the first stop. Never hit, or seen anyone else hit one down there before. Maybe I hit a sprinkler head or something...

Broken record over here but I had two great shots again today, but this time with my new 7w (aka: My Drivers new girlfriend...). Both were on par fours and both were second shots from around 178 or so that each put me right on the dance floor. One wound up for par and the other was a GD 3-putt..!🤬

Me thinks it's time to start putting more practice with the flat stick now that my worries are over with the top of my bag...🤔

No pix but I’m getting back into playing again. Since I’m not playing with any club stronger than a 6 Par 3 are important to me more than usual.
On the Par 3 4th, 130-140 over water was pretty scary right now. Hit a 8 iron, pin high, 15’. Got the bird, days like this I love this stupid game.

My best swing of the day was when I swung my hand and turned off the alarm, thus oversleeping and not having time to get cash to bet on my game. I played my best round in 3 years yesterday and would have bet heavily. Instead, lacking the cash to pay bets, I abstained and proceeded to spray balls all over the course. Short game and putter kept me from being embarrassed but I would have lost all the money.

Good lord. I need the wind at my back, and a downhill hole, dry and hard fairways, and a perfectly struck ball for those 300 yarders... with my “Ping G400 LST”.

I am liking that comparison testing between the new and old LST’s are not significant in distance...

I had my closest ever shot at an ace. The pitch mark was one cup to the right, exactly pin high, and the ball hopped a little and came back (downhill green, I don't generally spin them back) to rest one cup to the left. 145 yards slight downhill, stood on a 9 iron.

#13 at Kaneohe Klipper GC. Downhill tee shot, with the ocean on the right side. Fairway is somewhat narrow and it starts heading back uphill about 160 out. I hit a solid drive that rolled out to the right side of the fairway leaving me 191 to a back pin. I ended up hitting a crispy 6 iron that I knew was good from the minute I hit it and here's where it ended up!

After pulling tee shot into trees my ball kicked left and came to rest in a penalty area close to an old barn. Dropped under a tree and backswing was going to "tick" leaves and follow through was definitely into the branches. Normally this freaks me out and I don't make good contact. Hung with it this time and hit a nice 8 iron that landed about two feet from the cup, backed up, and almost went in. Shotscope says 1.3 feet, but it was more like 3 inches. (Edited final putts is a little dicey in Shotscope - the zoom is limited and that was as close as I could get it, especially on my phone.)
