Hello from Salem Oregon. 50 years old and started golfing in grade school. Took a 15 year break from the game to raise my daughter and dove back in last summer. Weather has been mostly good here and have played 5 rounds in the last 2 weeks. Play to 10 or so and hope to get single digits soon. Just got to drop a few putts a round and I will be there. Looking forward to enjoying the site and exploring what it has to offer.

Love Salem but haven't played it in a number of years.  Last year I played a lot at McNary, Santiam, OGA Course, Cross Creek, and Evergreen.  Oh, I also played 4-5 rounds at Creekside since they opened it up to some public play due to them struggling to keep the course open.

I've played McNary and Cross Creek (both before and after they put in the second nine holes).  I didn't know that Creekside open up for public play.

Creekside is struggling to keep the doors open and are in a constant battle with a land developer  that wants to take it over and turn the property in to houses.  Creekside went to the city and begged them to lower their water bill to help them turn a profit to keep the doors open.  The city honored their request and currently Creekside is open for at least another year and pushing memberships hard.  They ran a great deal last year for $40 bucks for 18 with a cart.  it was a coupon on the back of either a Safeway and Fred Meyer's receipt. 

 

The course sits on on major water supply to the city of Salem and I doubt that they will be able to put many houses on the property due to all the wetland and the fact that it is a major water source.
