Good morning spies!  What an exciting week this is in the world of all things Golf and MGS!

So many testing opportunities,  and so many new members!!!

The next few days will be bringing typical April storms down here, which means I may only be able to get 9 in this morning before GC duties today.

Good morning Spies on a cool and clear Wednesday here in the Motor City.

Did manage to get some real outdoor practice putting in yesterday evening at the course close to home.

At least that green has been rolled and mowed, so more normal surface than what I have seen out on the courses so far.

Normal work day for me here, although the number remaining is getting smaller fairly quick.

Hope that your day is the best it can be, and that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans.

Good morning spies! Starting out the day with a cool 38° but it should be around 71° this afternoon. Taking the clubs to work with me just in case everything goes my way and I can get a round in after work.

Mother Nature is definitely going to challenge the golf community around here this weekend. Weekend forecast is for sun and high 70s to low 80s while The Masters is on.

Up and at it early as I have a build walk for a clients home this morning across town and I'm expecting a 1.5hr commute.  The Newton 3w shaft arrives today and I'm hoping to get out to the range to test it out.

Good morning everyone. Happy Masters Eve. Never been a big fan of the Par 3 competition but it is fun to see the players families and some caddies take a few shots. Perhaps we need to set a MGS Forum over under pool on the number of aces? Anyone calling in sick tomorrow to watch all day? I’m tempted but my soccer team has a game in the afternoon. Pretty sure I’m in trouble if the coach doesn’t show up. Hope everyone has a great day ahead.

Goood morning all! Up and at em early this morning. Workout is complete and am now taking the dog for a quick stroll around the neighborhood. Long day of work ahead of me today, so a good workout to start the day is a great start. Unfortunately, no golf for me today, but lots of golf in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully the same goes for all of you!

Good morning MGSpies from a warm WNY this Wednesday, was able to get out for 9 holes yesterday at the park, can't call it a golf course yet as the city doesn't start operations until next week but the die hard golfers do take care of the place and greens are looking in pretty good shape already with cups and no flags, fairways are about short rough length and grounds have been doing tree removal after the winter took down one good size tree and some branches.

I had an oil problem @russtopherb with a failed oil filter gasket (never heard of it before but that was what the shop across the street from the school I worked at told me).  I used to put Slick50 into all my motors as I bought well broken in vehicles in that part of life usually at or approaching 100K on the odo.  That was an 85 Astro with the V6 3.4 motor and running CB radio all the time heard from a couple of 18wheelers I had passed a few moments before about a van dropping oil on I-90 about a mile or 2 before my exit.  I asked them and they told me details.  I started watching engine temp.  12 miles north of 90 on SR-98 no perceived engine temp rise but oil pressure was zero and no change to engine sound, pulled into the shop and left a note with keys in the drop box.  The tech said the engine had no oil in the sump but no evidence of anything wrong apart from the gasket failure.  Just did the "oil change" and the vehicle ran for another 5 years and 110K with nothing but routine maintenance before it was totalled hit from behind.

Might be able to get out for another round today, rain predominates the forecast through the weekend after that.  Hope golf is a part of your day

up early today, had some trouble sleeping with the storms that rolled through mainly because the puppers likes to be on the bed when that happens. 

There is nothing like the day before the Masters. The par 3 contest, the lead up, the interviews, it’s like Christmas Eve for golfers. I hope hope everyone does well in their pools, just not better than me .

Good morning to all on a sunny and beautiful Wednesday morning.  Thoroughly enjoying my morning espresso with the knowledge that today is the Par 3 contest at the Masters and it starts tomorrow.  I'm also heading out shortly for my first round of the year.  Can't wait.  Hopefully, the golfing gods have remembered how to instill in me how to swing a club and make a putt.  Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning! 

Had a bit of a home improvement attempt that yep turned into a bigger homeowner hassle...

.. was trying to upgrade the upstairs thermostat (had done the downstairs one several weeks ago) and there's two sets of wires in the wall with one coming down from the attic for the A/C and one coming up from the basement for the heat...

.. well the one coming -up- inside the wall apparently was not secured to the wall stud and it disappeared on me......

D'OH!

So now have to get an electrician over to try and fish it out, if possible, or else I guess we tear the house apart...

Well at least I have 5 or 6 months until we need the heat upstairs again...

Anyhow hope the rest of you have a home/car/health/family or personal or work, too I guess, disaster-free day!!!

I am also contemplating going from a game improvement iron to a player's distance. Is these things that are at the top of my list this morning as I sit here on the man's payroll.

Another nice day in Chicago with temps around 60º today. 

Excited to watch the Par 3 contest this afternoon. Been watching all the interviews and the On The Range coverage over the past couple days. Hoping the weather tomorrow isn't too bad and we can see some good golf on day 1!

Tempted to try and sneak in an early morning round this Saturday as the weather looks superb, but I think I'm going to just focus on watching the Masters instead. We've got enough going on as it is and my wife is already putting up with me being a zombie in front of the TV all weekend

Or run tie a fishing weight on a string and lower it through the hole until it comes visible in the basement, pull the wire out in the basement and attach the end to the string (minus the weight) and pull the wire back up to where it was before.  It might take some fishing to get that weight on the string to find the passageway to the basement and that might be aided by pulling the wire down.  If all fails, get a wire snake and feed it up from the basement until it appears in the thermostat opening, or do it the other way around depending on how big the hole is for access in the wall.  Just ideas to add to what you're faced with Chuck.

Good Morning Spies!

Rainy day ahead.  Which is no fun.  Mainly due to not being able to get done what I need to do.  Yesterday on my way home from work my oldest daughter calls to tell me that her car won't start.  I go check it out and it's the starter.  I am no grease monkey but I like to think I can do some things.  After an hour of taking things off to get to the starter, I could not get the starter out.  Thankfully one of my friends is a grease monkey, so I called him.  He came but did not bring his tools.  So we are planning to fix it when it is not raining. Hopefully today, but most likely it will have to wait until Thursday.  

Oh well.  Such is life.  Everyone have a great day!

Good morning Spies,

Happy day of the hump! Rain decided to return to CNY. My cuppa is going down rather nicely in spite of the weather. I got out for 9 yesterday. It was my first outing of the 2024 golf season. My first time using my new driver was a nice draw. The Black Ops driver gives a rather pleasant “thwack”! I didn’t keep score. The home course was in early season shape. A lot of trees were taken down around the course. A couple of the greens were sanded and evidence of winter damage was apparent on the aprons of several greens. My sand game was on point both from fairway and greenside bunkers. Putting was ok.

Something quite special about Masters Eve. Tiger’s presence is great to see but will his body hold up?

If it fell all the way down, do like @EasyPutter said and fish a line to the basement.   2 things to be mindful of. Depending on how old the wire is, it can become very brittle, and break apart very easily! The second is it may be piggy backed (split from) and onto the other thermostat wiring. If this is the case don't pull on it or you may end up in deeper doodoo!

Checks to see how many sets of wires are running from the basement or attic.

a bit chaotic here -- my son is going on a 10 day class trip to Greece tomorrow and there's a scramble to get ready. Really really excited for him. Going to be an amazing adventure!

popped over to Golf Galaxy for my 4 dozen Maxfli annual deal and decided to stop at the range on the way back to figure out the driver. My weights were all sorts of mixed up and I'm hoping it's functional again.

Good morning spies…. Rolling strongly into double digit days without golf…. Still have a minimum of 21 days on the golf IR.  
 As a prelude to the final trip itinerary that the “ She, who would rule all “ is suppose to drop on me today, we had severe storms last night. Had more of that rather rare atmospheric condition called rain which is usually a very good thing for this part of the state, we suffered NO damage. Heard second hand reports that storm wise things got rather tough up north in San Antonio and Austin areas; hope all is well with  @Josh Parker’s family and home. 
   Will probably avoid the Master’s as much as possible to reduce the woe is me factor on my  golf probation. Hope that it is a masterful and exciting tournament for everyone else to enjoy. 
   May everyone get the best that this  Wednesday has to offer.

Good morning, Spies, and Happy Wed-Nes-Day!!

Another drizzly morning here. Hopefully it does clear up some time tomorrow so the weekend will be as great as it shows in my weather app. Hoping to get 18 holes in on both days!

Nothing special to report at this point. Just another mid-week "pineapple percussion." But I guess that's the way of things at this point in the year. No holidays or days off since MLK day and the weather has been less than inviting. I'll admit, I do miss AZ at this point (mostly the sunshine pretty much every day).

Happy Hump Day, fellow golfers!  Today, I am PE Coach Reid for Kindergarten and 1st Grade.  My round of golf yesterday was much better since my irons and putter decided to play nice.  My driver has been performing very well, probably because I have a Ping G430 Max 10k head on the way.

Good Wednesday morning to all!

Starting the day cooler but strangely humid. Of course, more rain and wind on the horizon for the day when we need a little drying time... 

Guess we will have a good muddy and windy round tomorrow with cart path only conditions. Makes for a sloppy day of golf. 

Her royal highness has advised I will be performing chauffer duties today as she continues on her exchange rate extravaganza. Quilt shops around these parts even treat her like royalty...

Top of the pot spies!   Slept like a mummy last night after making and eating this dish.

My wife, who's not big on certain seafoods, couldn't resist and stole a few . Simple, quick and tasty is my cuisine motto.  0852 tee time at Cimarron this morning. Men's league individual low net, with gross & net skins.  This afternoon, our Grand Fishing Club is having our annual BBQ at the lake pavilion.  Lot's of fish stories... some real, most a stretch .
