Today was a day managing my way around. My swing was not at its best, but I kept it in play and hit fifteen greens. However, did not hit any par 5’s in two. That is where I normally make my money! Two natural birdies (four net) a bogey and one double.

Hit the ball great for most of the day. I had the game today to break 80, but nothing went my way. Burned the edge on birdie putts of 6' and 10' and came up 3" short on multiple par putts from that same range of 6-10'.

9/14 fw 7/18 gir. Scored 40-43 for a +12 83 which is my best score here, but the way I got there felt very frustrating.

Tried to qualify for the US Am today. Played pretty solid. The greens were lightning fast and it was a great track. Had two drives over 400 yards today  I finished 6th shooting 71, 70.

Annual vacation to Cape May round. We usually play Cape May National, but we decided to play Shore Gate as a change of pace. Was a great course, in great shape, nice greens. But my God, SO MUCH SAND, sometimes tracking all the way down one side of a hole. That said  If you hit fairways,  it's a very gettable course. Unfortunately, I didn't hit enough, but still had a good time.

Returned to golf after a 2 week vacation and returned to the brutal heat / humidity of Florida in July.  I couldn't hit a fairway with the driver, I couldn't hit a long drive and I couldn't get out of sand traps that hadn't been raked after the morning rain storm.  Other than those complaints, it was a lovely evening of golf with friends.

None too shabby for a 4 club + putter challenge.

This is the 2nd challenge in a row, that the 4 UI, 7i, PW, and putter have come up big for me.

Driver was mostly straight but shorter than earlier in the season. Might need some range time to sort that out. On a brighter note, 29 putts was a season low, so that’s cool.

Rarely does a single hole bug me but today the short par 4 7th did me in.  I was -2 after 6 having birdied 2 and 4 and lipping out birdies on 3 and 5 from 18 and 12 feet respectively. I drove it 332 on # 5, downhill and downwind.   I had 8 putts through 6.  I hit a perfect 3 wood tee ball  on 7 and had 106 left over water to the green from middle of the fairway and downhill enough to get my attention. A worker was syringing the green cuz the temps were hotter than I was at that point.  He takes 5 mins to finish and I address my ball with my 52.  Now for my bugging moment.  As I am making my downswing, a dragonfly lands on my ball and I hit 4 inches behind the ball and dump it in the creek. I make triple and go 1 over.  I pull my tee shot 20 yards left on par 3 8th make bogey by leaving the 10 foot par putt on the lip. I’m +2.  Par 9 just missing another bird and turn at 37, +2.  14 putts on the front.  I  tried Cam Smiths technique today and it was working on the front.  
I head to the back where I left 3 on the edge a half rotation short and had 4 lip outs inside 5 feet  for 44.  16 putts on the back which felt like 40.    I still can’t get that dragonfly out of my head.

 Cam Smith’s putting technique is longer backswing, shorter follow through and it worked great.  This technique has me hitting more putts square but a bit aggressive hence the lip outs.

After a few rounds of too much thinking and analysis paralysis today's plan was simple PLAY GOLF.  1st hole good drive, pulled to the left but a clear shot at the green, left my wedge a little to the right and over 20 feet to the cup downhill left to right slider...center cup BIRDIE, ZEBRA AIT1 official tester...

Going good, putting on 2 left myself more than I'd like to have for a comeback putt, but it goes in.  Par 5 #3, I'm feeling good its not even 6am and I the suns up, score card looks good, its quiet (other than the reel mowers across the fairway.  Tee up driver, into the wind and hit a BOMB (for me) and get  to 295.

Finish the front 1 natural birdie 4 pars and 4 bogies.

Back 9 my approach shots are getting closer, I definitely left a couple of birdies on the back, but my putting stroke was good and no spiraling down after a missed opportunity.  Get to 18 and I am 3 over on the back (5 pars, 3 bogies).  Good drive up the left side of the fairway, just over 120 yards to the pin.  53º wedge comes off great, I can't see the green surface as it is uphill, I see my ball land on but it disappears on the horizon line.  Get up to the green and it's 3 feet from the cup.  Roll in the birdie (I think that is the best way to start and end a round...)

Beautiful day and course around the mountains in ME. Very wet after 18" rain in June/ beginning of July with 3" on Sunday. Played well through 6 then fell apart. But the views were worth all the bad play.

Yikes my short game was bad today, but the wind was at my back on 3 par 4’s and a par 5. So I went ahead and I let it rip and ended up with some crazy numbers! 376, 370 and 358 and an OB long that likely traveled at least 340. Weird day, but I’m happy to see the training and coaching is paying off big time with the driver! A year ago I topped out at 280-290 now I can reach FAR beyond that.
 

Now if I could get the wedges and putter going at the same time…
