Played 9 yesterday and 9 today and felt I played very respectably. Had oral surgery Tuesday and got off the pain meds starting Thurs but really was dragging Friday and yesterday.  Ysterday shot 42 (par 37) but faded at the end.  Shot 42 (par 36) today and high 80s but very humid.  Again faded with 2 double bogies on last 2 holes.  Oh, my new woods arrived day after my surgery and only time I hit my 7w and 5h was during warmup.  Had some really good 7w shots but so-so with the hybrid.  Haven’t touched my 4w. I’m still missing 2 clubs that hurt both days, a 52* and 56* and tried with poor results improvising with my 48* GW.  Felt I lost 2-3 strokes as a result.

Round one of the Club Championship…a couple real bad holes but not bad overall. Definitely experienced some growth in competition. A lot of positives although the score didn’t show it.

Round two of the Club Championship. Definitely was much more relaxed. 40 on the front +4 after a 50 the day before made it all worth it. It was really hot and my mental game got shaky for the home stretch but overall was a great day! Can’t wait to hit the course tomorrow!

Played this afternoon but had a 45-minute storm interruption after hitting the tee shots on number 6. Big storm rolled through, with heavy rain, we made it back to the clubhouse, and saw many leave the course although the forecast was for weather to pass within the hour.

After the rain delay, went back out to complete the round, although the course was saturated, and standing water was another obstacle to avoid if possible.

Made the last holes play long, and it was all carry, no roll at all.

Longest drive of the day was 258 on the front nine.

Shot 38 on the front, hitting 5 0f 7 fairways, and 7 of 9 greens. If I missed the green, it was long, and led to a bogey.

Back 9 I used a "new to me" Callaway Para\Dym driver and only hit 3 of 7 fairways but did manage to hit 5 of 9 greens. Misses were all left, and it may have to do with the lie angle of the driver being a little too upright for me? had a birdie on a par 4 and shot 39 on the back nine for a 77 total.

Hoping to get back out again at the end of the upcoming week, and next weekend.

A great day out there. I was actually taking my instructor's advice and hitting one extra club and swinging easy and hit a ton of greens. Also got a slightly cart path aided drive that got up around 310 on the old GPS tracker and the weather was great.

@tommyb1683, instead of posting your details as in the standard post widget, use the "Post Score" button at the top of the page.  That's what adds you to the leaderboard automatically.  It's also at the bottom of the page between the page selector and the post widget.

This once a week golf schedule is killing my ball striking!  haha.  Why doesn't my job understand that I have a golf game to hone? 

I started out ok, even through 6, then had a series of unfortunate holes... bogey, bogey, bogey, double bogey, bogey, double bogey....   But played the last 6 at -1.  For a smooth consistent 79  .  

Of course, after going home and showering off the 102* degree day, and getting a quick bite to eat, I went out to my home range and recreated every bad shot I hit during the day, until starting from the ground up and "re-building" my swing piece by piece.  I really should make an effort to groove my swing BEFORE going to the course to play a round!!!  

Hope I can find the time this week to get out a few times in the afternoon/evening.

Most birdies I've ever had in one round - 6. Would've posted my best round ever by a few strokes had I not had a meltdown on the 14th, posted a 9 on a par 4......

Drove the green on a short par 4 and 2 putt for a bird and chipped one in on a par 3 after missing the green right.  Loved the course, quiet and tons of wildlife.

Tried a round with 4 clubs to play along with the Cobra Challenge competitors. 3200y par 60, I decided to leave driver at home and brought 4h-5i-8i-52° along with the putter.

Attempt #2 with 4 clubs + putter. 9 holes Saturday evening at Colonial Terrace played the blue tees because the distances matched better for the par 3s with what I brought. Dr-4h-8i-52°

Brought the same clubs yesterday to Old Orchard CC and played the front 9

Lots of good moments, but I felt like I was missing the tools I needed out there for both the rounds I tried leaving 9 clubs at home. If I had my wedges I could've scored much better. I don't have the wizardry to command 1 wedge to do what I would normally accomplish with 3. 

I'm a little better at manufacturing shots with an iron, so using just the 8i was  easier to adjust to hooding the face and hitting it closer to 6i distance or swinging slower and getting a 9i distance from it. 

Carrying just the 4h at the top was the easiest adjustment. I could probably ditch my 3w and carry more wedges.

Lighting up the greens this week was @LinksgolfFever with his round at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch - and 11 net birdies or better.  (the net 66 is nothing to sneeze at either!!).  Congrats on winning this week's Birdie Badge LGF@!!!  

 

Longest Drive

Ok, this is just silly. 

@Bohnson hit a 404 yard drive this week...... and LOST.  Yes, that's right... he lost to himself, @Bohnson launched a 414 yard drive to best his own "other" drive by 10 additional yards, and 38 yards past his nearest competitor NOT named @Bohnson haha.  Which was a 376 yard drive by @J7Hawkins, and who was 4th on the list??... @J7Hawkins back an additional 10 yards at 366 - which was also tied with @TylorJudd.  All of which are a well struck 8 iron past where my average drives would be... 

Congrats to Bohnson for winning this week's Longest Drive Badge!  Just... Wow.

Still pretty impressive my friend!  Here in Key West, our course is about 10 ft. above sea level and I'm not sure I bother with the slope function on my rangefinder as it's never more than two yards longer due to changes in elevation!
