What “he’s a golfer, he’ll like this....” gift did you get this year?

It happens every year to a lot of us.

The old “I know you’re a golfer, and I thought of you when I saw this...” gift you get from non golfers who know you play.

I’ve gotten golf themed toilet paper, countless socks and ties with either golfers or golf balls in the design, dozens of golf balls with the logos of college or pro teams I root for.

This year actually wasn’t too bad, I only got one.

In my stocking was a card denoting a one year subscription to Golf magazine. When I call them and ask them to tack this on to my current one, I think I’ll be receiving copies until the end of 2028 or so....

Only loosely related, but FWIW. Our golf league of about 120 players takes up a collection at the end of each year for our (volunteer) league admin and assistant. Last year it amounted to over $1000 which helps defray their annual membership cost. Needless to say our format was modified substantially because of COVID this year and we were strongly encouraged not to congregate (still in force) so no one coordinated collection this year. We were all encouraged to recognize our admin and assistant directly on our own.

I heard a lot of talk and I’m afraid our admin probably ended up with a 5 year supply of Jameson fifths and a 5 year supply of GC grill gift certs. Hopefully we’ll be back to coordinated collection next year, he’s going to working on the Jameson for years...

Amazon gift lists work great. My wife got me a Callaway beanie and winter gloves for these cold rounds. Also got a normal Titleist Players glove. And, amazingly enough, they were exactly like the ones on my gift list!

My brother and sister-in-law gave me Santa golfing socks and Potty Putting, a green that fits around the commode so you can practice putting while pooping....lol

I do club work on the side so my daughter and her bf built me a 14 club stand for my work area. Pretty cool.

Oh..and a dozen Provs

isnt it funny how now as adults were back to christmas lists like we made when we were kids?

i’m with you though. a list saves a lot of headache (and keeps my mother in law under control)

Fortunately, or unfortunate if you want to view it that way, I'm a single dad who doesn't have to worry about those horrible gifts from inside my four walls. However.... the family outside the house, that's a horse of a different color all together!

This year, however, no Golfer Bombs found their way into my possession. I got a North Face pullover so I can wear it during winter rounds, a Nike hat, and about 4 dozen TP5 Pix balls. So looks like I wont need to buy balls for a while!

But I tend to buy whatever it is I want so I typically am ok in that department. BUT those nongolfer folks out there that try to get you "unique" golf related gifts do tend to almost make you eye roll every time. But thanks are given regardless for the thought, cause I guess that's what counts right?

We're at at age and place in life where we pretty much buy what we want throughout the year. As a result, shopping for one another is an exercise in mission impossible.

My sons bought me golf balls and tees, which was good.

My wife bought me a new cell phone, which was great. It was an awesome surprise.

I got my usual Golf Tip a Day calendar and some money towards lessons. I guess I'm fortunate that my family knows not to buy me anything golf related because I'm pretty picky.

The tip a day calendar sounds kind of cool. Although, I don't want to tinker too much with different things and somehow think I've found the new "key" to my game.

My family is the same. Even my wife doesn't try because they know I'm kind of hard to please. Wife got me a phone clip that you can put on your bag to take videos of your swing that still has not been used, but good thought. I just don't want to diagnose my swing based on a video and would rather leave that to a professional. Also, A co worker did get me a divot tool and brush/towel type gift set, which was nice.

It still baffles me that when asked directly - I have little to no idea what to give them in terms of ideas, then I come on here to "what have you bought lately" or do some perusing online and immediately have 5 items I'd love to have.

Father in law asked me what brand of ball I like to play I told him the Snell MTB-X is my favorite. Exchanged gifts today and I ended up with 5 dozen vice pro plus customized with my name on them. It’s the thought that counts!

Lol my family had a stretch like that for me, but luckily they've moved on. I actually got a chipping net, two wedges and a round with my dad and brother this year, and I'm excited about all of them!

In this category, I got a golf ball ornament that I like enough to keep on the tree. Otherwise I got a couple of polos that I had asked for and some Soft Feels. Overall I’m pleased.

I was fortunate this year to get a great golf gift from my wife. She got me a nice little Airbnb and 3 rounds at Pinehurst for me and my best friend. My takeaways from this:

Damn, she must really want something in return

She just wants to get rid of me for a few days

She really loves me?????? nah must be one of the other two. haha

Ha, not this year!

My wife likes to buy gifts and wrap them, so she has LOTS of presents to put under the tree (she has three kids so yeah there's a lotta stuff!), and each year past she felt obligated to go to the store and get some golf gadget for me....

This year she finally admitted defeat and said, you must have every golf gadget by now and I know you're picky about your clubs .. so I got an overly generous gift card to PGATSS

Oh and the kids got me beer of the month - extra hoppy selection
