I'm a Tampa Bay Ray convert. I grew up a Yankee fan but made the switch when Rivera retired.

 

Most of all I'm a baseball fan. It is my first love among the sports.

Baseball is definitely my first love. I'm a Redsox fan. I think it mostly started out of my hate for the Yanks when I was young lol. That and Pedro was the man!

My dad's best friend growing up, Ed Goodson, played for the Giants, Braves and Dodgers.  He would later become my high school baseball coach.  Naturally, as a nonconforming kid, I grew up a Yankee fan after watching Goodson play in the 1977 World Series.  I couldn't like the same team as my dad.   ;)

 

A childhood friend and teammate is the nephew of former Indians and Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.  Charlie would bring us to games a few times a year back when he was coaching in Cleveland.  I used to have a glove he gave me when I was in 8th grade but someone stole it and a set of Tommy Armour 845's when my family moved when I was 17.  It was Spalding, dingy, faded red, floppy and a mile too big for me.

 

I don't really have a "favorite" today.  To borrow from Jerry Seinfeld, we are rooting for clothing with free agency being what it is.  

 

Baseball is king where I grew up.  Town of 700 with multiple major league draft picks and countless more who played major college baseball.

Born and raised just outside of Baltimore and now for the last 14years been in York County Pa always have been and always will be a Birds fan... the Orioles that is... once again all the experts have them picked almost last just before the Rays but don't bank on that... after all no team has won more games the last 5 seasons then the O's.... my bet is they compete for a WC spot once again

Lifelong Astros fan. Ole gray's heroes regularly broken my heart. As a last resort we drug up and headed over to the AL ...still broken-hearted, but for different reasons.

Yea the Astros were pretty much on our woodshed list back in those days.  Now the Braves have so many new players I'm having a hard time with the names.  I hear tell in a couple of years the team could be contending again.

To peer behind the veil of broken Astros fan, for years it was so bad I pinned my hopes on Smoltz giving the Astros a break by retiring from the mound early to join the PGA Tour. The guy has something like 4 or 5 full sized golf holes on his property that he tends himself. When his game is tight he's a deep "+" capper. But I guess starting MLB pitcher is a pretty sweet gig on your days off. Apparently it leaves plenty of time to work on the golf game.

Penny and I are going to the Red Williams Hitters Hall of fame dinner tonight. Pete Rose is being inducted. I will try to get some pictures to post.

 

This is her big Christmas present.

I grew up in Macon, Ga. and use to watch Pete Rose when he played for the Macon Peaches who was a farm club for the Reds back then. Him, Tommy Helms, Lee May, and quite a few stars came through there.  Later the Braves farm team moved there and Chipper Jones was one among many who cut their teeth at Luther Williams field.
