What would you do if you hit the Mega Millions?

Yesterday, the Mega Millions numbers were announced and no winners were immediately identified. At $521M, this is only the fourth time the jackpot has topped $500M. There's still a little bit to go to reach the highest ever at $656M but we're not far off from the record.

 

So, aside from the boring stuff like paying off debt and investing, what would you do with the rest? Fancy new set of PXG? Buddies trip for all of MGS? Yacht with a par 3?

Buy land and build a custom home and have a nice synthetic short game area built that allowed me to hit shots up to 75 yards. A few golf trips around the US and Ireland/Scotland. New golf wardrobe.

 

That's about it, golf related.

I would donate 2 million to MGS. That should keep the lights on for a while.

 

Many charities, many! MANY!

 

Donate to my kids schools.

 

I'd make my parents retire.

 

Travel.

 

And maybe start my own golf clothing and accessory brand.

 

Probably buy a golf course to host the annual MGS outing, all expenses paid for the first 5 years.

I would buy a few thousand acres in Montana so I could hunt and fish wherever and whenever I want. Then on that land I would host a test or two for the dog training association I belong to. And I would put a few golf holes on the property so I can play a par 5, par 4, and par 3 daily.

I would buy property, and take care of family. Then I would buy whatever car I wanted. Before any of that though, I would call in to work, this of course, is after the money is in the bank.

After changing my phone number and convincing my best friend from college to leave JP Morgan and manage my money, I'd make sizeable donations to The First Tee and JDRF. I'd also buy a small concert hall or nightclub somewhere. Probably also buy a public course that needs some love.

Join murfield and any other private course in my city. Move to a bigger house on a course. Prolly wouldn't quit my job because insurance is important but I'd be rolling to work everyday in a decked out suv of some type.

Some states require that the person be identified regardless if a trust or llc is created. There's a fight going on right now for one winner. Think it's in the north east somewhere.

 

I'd rent out st Andrew's for a few days and setup a random drawing for 10 MGSers for an all expense paid trip to St. Andrew's for the week. A second drawing for 20 to Bandon Dunes. And a half million donation to MGS.

 

With the rest of the money, I'd buy a house in a few countries (nothing extravagant) and mostly travel and see the world. Charities would also benefit from my fortune. Save enough to retire comfortably (sometimes really hard when that kind of money is involved) , have my kids go to college and then have them work for a few years to build character then they can retire comfortably and put in a trust fund for any future grandchildren and great grandchildren. When not traveling, I'd probably help out with various charities hands on, not only financially.

 

For my closest buddies, you will be golfing with me to those destinations that we've only seen on top 50 lists throughout the world. I'd have to debate whether to go with charter jets, stick with first class or buy my own plane. That can suck up the cash quickly though. We can only dream 😁

 

 

I'd buy a nice car.. Not suv, not a minivan, a car. Ferrari, porsche and Maclaren come to mind. No need to for cgolf club space as I'd store multiple sets throughout the different clubs I'd play at.

Find a great charity to which we would donate

Start looking on the internet for a new vehicle

Plan a week long trip to Disney

Plan a week long trip to the beach

 

Figure out how to live in Michigan during the summer, and the South during the rest of the year!

 

After all of that, who knows! Golf wouldn't be in my mind until I figured out where we would live. I'd join a club, or two...

 

Lastly, I'd be a hoops and golf coach again!!!! I'd go back to doing what I LOVE!!!!

After the requisite bill paying and taking care of the family, I'd get my dream car from the 80's; Porsche 911 Carrera Slant-nose Cabriolet with the M491 option (turbo-look but w/normally aspirated 3.2 H6 engine) and just drive baby!

 

Lots of golf & fly fishing of course. Travel a ton including taking my Dad on a tour of the battlefields of Europe especially Normandy.

 

Blow a wad having Iron Maiden, Judas Priest & Metallica all play a private concert for my birthday (ala Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High )

 

Buy a house in Hawaii and put my toes in the sand with a drink in my hand....which reminds me to also have Kenny Chesney play a private concert for me there as well...

The usual. Quit work, set up a trust for my kids and buy my 2 daughters back home a house each so they don't have to worry about that, also one for my brother even though he's a d13khead.

 

Sell here in Ohio and move to Florida. Buy a Porsche, a boat and a left hand ute. Then travel to SE Asia and Europe because I want to.

First off retire. 2nd pay off everything I owe, kids owe mom owes in laws owe, give them all enough to never ask for anything. Buy a couple of homes so I can go where ever I want and do whatever.. and start living as I want.. oh yeah build myself a bad ass course and keep it private so I can play with who I want when I want. No shoes no shirt no problems..

Too much to think about, other than the obvious  "take this job and shove it"  thing...lol.

 

I'd help family and friends with a one time "donation"........... make it count, because the bank is closed after the one time!

 

I would love to help with life saving/changing surgeries for children.... and adults that truly need it. All done anonymously.

 

I'm a simple man.... I don't need much. I'd build a new home (moderate sq. footage.... easy to take care of) with an awesome wood shop. I'd have some cars in my 10 stall garage. There would be a large, fenced in yard for my boys (dogs) to run in.

 

And then there is golf. I would get myself  a full bag fitting, a teacher/coach, practice a lot and play WHEREVER I wanted to play!

 

I would start a trust fund for my grand children that they can't touch until they are 35. Of course, I would pay their college tuition, but they are going to learn what it's like in the real world, with a job and responsibilities, before they get any trust fund money...lol.

 

None of it matters, because it will never happen.... but it's cool to dream.

That's honestly more money than I know what to do with. I'd find the best wealth management person or firm here, and let them find a way for me to keep that money growing for future yungkorys generations down the line.

 

GCQuad setup at work for me and the boys, a sick backyard chipping and putting area at home, and an M3 (car not twisty face) and I'd be pretty happy. Maybe a trip to TxG so they can unlock 50 more yards from my driver LOL.

I would move to North Carolina most likely the Wilmington area. Also buy something in Vermont for hunting/fishing and snowboarding. buy a new enormous building in Wilmington for mgs and say sorry but your relocating. And make sure they have all the lefty stuff one could imagine.
