The Good Morning Thread

Good morning MGSpies on a more seasonable cold wet Saturday with plans to go with MyGolfSpouse across the bridge to do some grocery shopping up @Cfhandyman's way for things that don't make it to our stores.  Might swing by Golf Stuff in Welland for a browse of their used clubs selection as it is where I found the Lovett wedge that works so well for me out of sand.  HOPE session went well last evening and already halfway through the 6 sessions already, funny how fast time passes.  Hope golf is a part of your day!

Afternoon all!

Had a lovely morning, getting my MIL out with us on a brisk walk on a shopping street in nearby city followed by brunch at a cafe. It’s good news because she’s initiating wanting to be outside where other people are.

Came back home to zero water pressure. Ah well, the sun’s out and warmer temperatures ahead soon.

Good morning! No indoor soccer this morning so I was able to get my workout in, help make pancakes & sausage for breakfast, and get a couple of to-do items checked off the list! It helps when the kids wake you up at 0545 on a Saturday morning ! I posted this on the newly created JumboMax grips user group thread, but last night I completed the installation of JumboMax STR8 Ultralite grips on my Dr, 3w, 5w and 4hy! They look great and from swinging them around in my family room, I like the feel so far! 

Feel free to add your thoughts/opinions/tip&tricks etc. to the thread if you have experience with JMX grips.

Happy Saturday all!

Late getting rolling here, but hey it's a grey threatening to rain again lazy kinda day.

On the good news, after hitting golf balls two days in a row my back, hips, etc are not doing too badly .. worst damage is to my ego! .. the bad news is I felt stiff and uncomfortable over the ball and was not making good contact on anything...

Step-daughter and her fiancé coming over later after checking out wedding venues, so at least there's a big dinner to look forward to tonight!!

Have a great day today - even you, Sir Chunks avoid the dumb at work and get home and relax!!

 

Weekend Update: was Spring yesterday, but now threatening us with another dose of Winter...

Haha thanks! I wasn’t that round but I will be this morning! I try to walk the course about 2-3 times a week right now and it die the other times.

I haven’t seen the damage yet but I think easily $200. The bartender on shift is a friend of mine so maybe she helped soften the blow but it was quite busy in there!

Good Saturday morning Spies!

A little cooler this morning but dry is the order of the day so not all bad. Should make it into the upper 50's. Calling for a light freeze tomorrow morning and then start warming up for rest of the week.

Tomorrow is fitting day with Jon Sinclair for the TPT shafts! It's only been a couple weeks since selection, but the anticipation makes it seem like it has been forever... Here's to hoping that I can make some decent contact and give Jon Something to work with... Join us in the TPT thread as we begin the journey!

@Girldad18 Glad to hear you have found medical staff that wants to get to the bottom of your daughter's condition and hope for a speedy diagnosis and recovery plan.

I hope to get a little range time in today to loosen up in prep for tomorrow.

Everyone have a great day and hit 'em well if you are one of the lucky ones who can get a round in!

Good morning spies! Well I am NOT the new club champion. Oh well we moved along at an excellent rate yesterday and finished in under 4 hours, which to me was a record time for this type of tournament. Had a blow up hole on each side due to brain fluctuances. Other than that I played a quality steady round.  

The A&M 9000 and I are heading out to the practice green in a little bit. I hope to get 4 or so hours of testing (video recording) done today and put the Putter to bed. Tomorrow will then set up the Chipper.

Off to a TM demo day. Just finished scrubbing, drying,  and organized that massive sack of balls the guys from the lake retrieval team gave me. 90% were usable and good to new condition. 5% were old. 5% were yard practice balls.

Another rainy day here in Pennsylvania, plus high winds doesn't make for a good day of outdoor golf. More like a lazy day and watching bowling to put me to sleep.

Will probably get in some sim time later, but thats about it for today.

I can’t speak for all of the JumboMax grips because I’ve only used the tour series and the STR8 Ultralite, but the STR8 Ultralite is multi-compound and very tacky. It’s their tackiest grip.
 The JMX tour series is much firmer and less tacky, more like a firm wrap style grip.

I gave up grips that were more than standard size. I don't know what it is, but anything bigger than that I can't square the face of the club up.

Good Saturday Morning all!

Rainy and wet today so no golf. First event of the year for me is March 23rd at the Irish Open. Should be a drunken swing-fest of an event. These events are always fun with a regular foursome. As such, I found this comic and thought it represented the “later in life” regulars (like me)….

Some of you may relate as well.

Today is National Get Over It Day… so for those that are struggling with their swing thoughts (again, like I am)…. we can now get over it

Don’t forget the annual clock setting and losing an hour tonight. Have a wonderful weekend all!

I think that's pretty common. A larger grip can still be turned over, but it's more difficult. I do still use standard grips on my wedges because I've assumed I would have more face control (I have never tested larger grips on wedges).

Still don't know what it was, but it stopped around 10 a.m. GF didn't get much sleep because of the tremors, so I'm letting her rest, and crossing my fingers that it doesn't come back. Hello spies. Thank goodness I got a round in yesterday, even though it was cold and misty. Weekend is a rainout for the 3rd in a row. 60-70 and sunny all week, then 40’s on the weekend!

A truly freedom Saturday is in my grasp and I over slept. Old age is relentless, but still beats the alternative. The meandering monarch arrived safely at her destination and is proceeding with the combination  consoling of her friend in the loss of her husband and engaging in at least a modicum of general male bashing. 
  I am off to have a full body session and then a specific hand/wrist session of cryotherapy. NO golf today;  I am to beat up and sore, especially my hands and wrists. Later today, much later, I will review the DO and DON’T YOU DARE list the wife person gave me as she was headed out the door. Pretty sure she also said something in regards to  “ behavior or behaving “ but I wasn’t listening at that point but instead was planning on what to do with all my new found freedom. 
  Tonight,  I will be headed to one of my former social haunts for a mega Mudbug boil and probable alcoholic induced all night discussion group on the state of the world 

@ILMgolfnut Here is hoping that your GF has just this one occurrence. She might still want to check in with her PCP. 
@Girldad18 Hope the medical news for your daughter is both fast in coming and is ALL good news. 
 @J7Hawkins Congrats on the HIO;  at my age, getting on a par 3 in regulation is like hitting a HIO. 
 @William P be sure to go by the golf super store either before or after the shaft fitting … Heck, maybe do both! Surely your family’s female ruler will understand it is for science.

Quiet day at home today. I'm catching up on Friday and Saturday API coverage. I may just skip the main broadcast for now and check out Full Swing S2 instead. We'll see.

Happy birthday to my dad (who's not on here, but im saying it anyway), who turns a young 83 today. That's him after hitting a hole in one last Jume. That's us on the 18th when he was visiting me in AZ a couple of years ago.

Glad to hear that there may be an explanation for this.  Just an FYI, blood sugar drops aren't just for diabetics, and low-level forms of Keto shock is possible in everyone.  From just irritable to blackout rage.
