They did it to me! I've broken into the box of new ones that Barbajo gave me last winter and I can't begin to describe how disappointed I am with the changes.

 

I preceded everything about the old ball, flight, distance, sound, stability to the new one. I suppose that spin is a tie and the new one may feel a bit softer. That's a non factor for me though.

 

I will be ordering several dozen revkev monogrammed MTB here very soon.

 

Very disappointed bridgestone, I thought you had something with the hydrocore.

Love the MTB, it's been my ball since MGS did that big ball study on the main blog.

 

You may want to hold off a few days though until we see the Kirkland vs ProV results that MGS is testing right now.  Early anecdotal feedback from just about everyone who has played it so far is very positive.  Add in the price and we might have a new leader in the clubhouse.

 

I got 2 dozen last Wed but haven't had a chance to play since then.  Weather permitting I'll test them out tomorrow.  Not sure how much I'll be able to tell though.  It's supposed to be a high of 45, rainy and 10-15mph wind.  Not the greatest conditions for ball testing.

Falcon's Fire is great, right down to the turkeys patrolling the fairways. I don't see that up here in NY!

I'm usually a huge fan of the B330 range with it being in my bag for the past year or so. If what your saying about the feeling, etc. of the new one is true, I might be switching across to the new Wilson FG Tour balls for the next season.

 

And yes, I will eventually get to buying a dozen of the Snell balls, but I first need to get through my current stockpile of Pro V1s & Srixon Q-Stars (all Srixons were found on the course).

We are all different. Just because I'm not liking it doesn't mean you won't.

 

It does has a softer feel which is going to be a plus for lots of people. But they have the S which is supposed to be the softer feel one. The older one is a better fit for my game. Higher launch, less spin off the driver. I'm not stopping the ball at my club with anything more the an 8 iron so a tad more spin, if there really is off the irons, doesn't matter. There is no additional spin where it matters, around the green, anyway.

If you stick with the old B330s, you'll be using a golf ball you love that is cheaper than its successor. Particularly if you go through a website like LostGolfBalls.com! 

 

Golf balls play an integral part of the game (ignoring the fact that we have to put the damn thing in it's damn home!), so it's important to play something that you enjoy the feel of. For me, I like the Pro V1s, but I will happily switch to either the B330 or the FG Tour balls because they feel nicer and are slightly softer. And Callaway ChromeSofts are too soft for me - I'd rather the Hex Chrome or Hex Black model, or even the SuperSoft.

Mdumble I appreciate the sentiment and it is often a strategy of mine to cling to a prior generation's ball. I'm all on that minus the list balls thing.

 

We've discussed that one. There are enough inconsistencies in golf without me having to guess where my ball has been. :)

Side note (or maybe back on topic??)  ...

 

Rev I used the Kirkland balls for the first time today and I'll just leave it at this.  You would be remiss if you didn't give them a shot.  

 

I'm not saying they will work out for you, and I know you don't want to go through testing right now.  But for $15 a dozen I had zero complaints playing it today.  I shot 76 in cold wet conditions and after the first tee shot I never once thought about what ball I was playing.  If someone told me it was a Snell MTB and cost $30 a dozen I'm not sure I could have told the difference.  Granted it was low 40 degree's outside, but I'm excited to buy more and play them next year.

We are all different. Just because I'm not liking it doesn't mean you won't.

 

It does has a softer feel which is going to be a plus for lots of people. But they have the S which is supposed to be the softer feel one. The older one is a better fit for my game. Higher launch, less spin off the driver. I'm not stopping the ball at my club with anything more the an 8 iron so a tad more spin, if there really is off the irons, doesn't matter. There is no additional spin where it matters, around the green, anyway.

My hands must me losing sensation.... I thought the newer model felt a little harder, I tend to play a firmer golf ball which is why I was shocked at the feel of the new golf ball........again, its just my opinion...

Not in stores, at least not here, but can be ordered from Costco online.  I'm set for balls for the winter, but if they are still around in the spring, I'll give them a look.

Yup, Costco online.  I've heard in various threads of some stores in the southern climates that have them in store, but none up here do yet.  I'm hoping they get stocked in the spring.
