A pretty nice morning to get the day started after last night's storms. Fortunately, we were spared the bad stuff which stayed to the West and North of us.

Good morning and happy Second Monday, Spies!!

Still going to be a warm day, but storms inbound that will drop temps by 20*+ and even make evenings around freezing. I even saw the possibility of rain turn to snow a couple nights this week. Crazy stuff.

Laundry room back wall is pretty much done, from the cabinet perspective anyway. Utility, wall, and base are all in now. Just need a countertop and the built-in bench to complete that part. We'll get the front wall prepped with texture and paint so we can install those cabinets next. The weather may help keep us inside to get that done sooner than later. We'll see.

I started watching For All Mankind on Apple+. Pretty interesting take on some what if changes in history so far. Only about 6 episodes in, but so far so good.

Good Morning everyone!!  Yesterday was a nice day on the golf course with temp in high 60’s; wish I had played better… 82.  I usually don’t play on Mondays as that makes 3 days in a row; tough for me, but today will be in the 70’s with high of 83º and sunny… just 15-25 mph wind to deal with.  So, today I’m going to attempt to walk all 18 holes.  My wife will be riding so I’ll throw my clubs on the cart and walk.  That way if I get too tired on the back nine the furtherest spot from the clubhouse, I’ll just hop on.

The rest of the week looks nasty; back to 40’s and 50’s and rainy so better get out while I can.  Hope you day is a great one, and for those back east with snow and cold…  it’s going to warm up quickly!!

Good morning! A little bit of rain here this morning, but I think it's supposed to rain most of the day and keep getting colder until the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to either get to a range or simulator this week. It's been a while since I've swung a club and I'd like to change that. 

Tuesday is meetings day at work, so lots of time spent in conference rooms explaining my progress from last week that I didn't make because I was on vacation.  Wish me luck.

Top of the pot spies!   Looks like our wet and cool weather is moving out and will be shifting back to normal... though still quite cool late this week.  No complaints though as the oven will, most assuredly, be heating up soon enough.  Other than my fishing club meeting this afternoon and perhaps some chip and putt practice, not much on the schedule.

Finally got caught up on some thread details.  @EnderinAZ, all the best with the hernia procedure. @MattWillGolf, positive vibes for your wife. @GolfSpy_APH, hope all goes well for your furry friend. @Preeway, so sorry to hear about your FIL... best to your wife during this difficult time.

Finally making some headway with the driver. Went from hard slices to a little fadey. Still very inconsistent but its getting better. These were my last two. On a sim so yes i do know its not the same but it has been helping on the course.

Good morning spies! First thanks for the well wishes guys, means a lot. Hope to get called today by the gastroenterologist to start the next phase. 

Going to get into the 70's today and will be very nice when we head into Phoenix to see the Yankies play the DBacks.  Coffee cup is empty and my laptop screen just went dark, I am out of power. Time to send this off and start the day.

Edel play date number 2 - overall I was ok with the results , greens were fairly slow Bermuda , probably stimped about 8 , they were wet when started but did dry out halfway through the round . I had 2 - 3 putts , both were from off the green , one was over 70 feet uphill and I misread the break , distance was pin high but 6 feet left , next putt was dead in the middle but short due to the slowness into the grain , the other was off the green about  4 feet and it was downhill and I blew it by 6 feet and out of  frustration I didn’t take my time . I got really comfortable on the 3-5 footers which lately had been an Achilles heel to me . I missed 4 very makable  putts under 14 feet mostly due to lack of speed control and not much practice . I did 2- putt 4 long putts that started off the green - lies are extremely tight and ragged here right now so putting is the most reliable way! I would rate the aiming system a solid 9 for me right now as most putts went exactly where I intended and distance control was 7 but that’s on me for not being familiar enough with the putter .  I have been averaging 4-6 three putts a round   for the last several weeks . I am excited to continue this journey because  the aiming is exactly what I hoped and now it’s getting the feel for speed !

Thanks @sirchunksalot @rkj427. Birch trees are everywhere here, so yep, reminds me of family trips around Little Traverse Bay. 

@MattWillGolf Big fan of Ansel Adams, although never quite made it to Yosemite around half dome or El Capitan. I always camped in the Sierra foothills or the eastern side toward Lee Vining.

@Preeway That’s a tough one, Parkinson’s. Condolences to your family.

Good morning (afternoon) everyone!

Must have been distracted this morning because I totally missed my normal routine of posting right before starting work  busy week is in progress so I'll blame that for my tardiness.

Weather continues to be gloomy in Chicago. This weekend should be somewhat nicer, but I'm still awaiting the breakthrough into "actual" golf season weather.

Hitting up the sim tonight with a buddy of mine. Working on getting into a good rhythm with my swing before a 2-man scramble tournament this weekend.

@Preeway my sympathies to your wife and you .. so sorry to hear of FIL's suffering  .. fwiw i've donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, they seem to be doing good research.

 

@EnderinAZ hope this next, so called, "procedure" goes well and recovery is quick. And btw are you going for some sort of repeat customer reward / frequent flyer miles  .. haha that's crazy and fingers crossed  this is the last time in for a *while*..!!

Thanks everyone for the supportive words. It’s been a long day and it’s going to be a long few days ahead for the Mrs. Again, everyone’s support means a lot.  

@cksurfdude My FIL was a big fan of MJF and the work he’s supported over the years. Thanks for supporting the cause.

@Preeway I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your father-in-law, Parkinson's is such a horrible disease and you'll be in our thoughts and prayers. 

I got the test results back from my skin biopsy and found it out was what they initially thought, keratosis. That's a major relief, my wife has been stressed.

Good to hear some good news! I've had a number of excisions over the years and two of them thin melanomas, but removed without spreading further.

Returned to stack training after being away for spring break and it suggested two sessions of shorter drills to get back in the swing of things. After, was hitting my 7 iron on the sim with my fastest swing speeds thus far, but I need to work on more consistent contact. I wish there were drills like the stack that would promote center strikes, proper club path, and correct face angle. I suppose that is what lessons are for.

Sorry to hear about your FIL. My Mom passed from the same thing about 10 years ago. She battled hard for 22 years with it. I know what you and your wife were going through.

Good evening all,

Storms passing through Indiana, so no range time today. No excuses to not make progress on the extensive honey-do list while I'm off work for a few days. lol.

Hoping to get a round in when the rains pass later this week. I have about two weeks to use up a pass for Purgatory Golf Club here in Central Indiana. I'd rather wait for nice weather, but as it's effectively use-it-or-lose-it time, I'll go play in the cold and wet rather than lose out. It'll be like my golfing youth across the pond. No such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes (or whatever the phrase that I'm butchering should be...)! Waterproofs, merino base layer and hand warmers at the ready.

Sim session booked for tomorrow morning and I'll be taking the tripod for some self-analysis to check my swing feels are doing what they are meant to be doing. On the last range session driver was a touch open at impact and I feeling the release was good enough, so want to get that corrected before hitting the course again. Also going to play around with the G430 settings and make sure I'm happy. +1* gives a nice square face position at address, so it might just be moving the weight at the back to help keep the fade easier to control. Tinkerers gotta tinker...ha ha.

Good news @sirchunksalot!

Played 18 holes at The Cradle today, shot a total of +7, or 61. Still no birdies, but my tee shot at 8 on the second loop cruised over the edge of the hole for an HIO (missed the 10-footer for birdie) and a 70-foot putt from the fringe bounced off the pin but didn't drop. Made that par putt. But four loops of the Cradle has brought my handicap down nearly a full shot. Which tells me it's the woods and long irons that keep my handicap up. I already knew that. But I can't make a putt longer than 8 feet on those greens.
