You beat me to it EP, I was going to link to the first thread for Season 1.  Yes... same basic rules apply.

@Javs you don't need to sign up, all you need to do is post your score using the "post score" button in the thread.  You will need to know your course handicap, and some information on deriving that is in the Season 1 Week 1 thread too.  If you have specific questions, don't hesitate to reach out.  It took a few weeks for us to get through all the "what if's" last season, but I think once it started rolling, it made a lot of sense and was fairly easy to post scores.  The leaderboard will automatically update when you post your score, so there is an immediate feedback on where you stand that week.

@Jnoble89 9 hole scores are ok, but need to be combined with a second 9 hole score so everyone is playing 18 hole rounds for a level scoring field.  So if you and your son play a couple of 9 holers that week, you can combine them and post as 18.  Last week (Week 27) we had a lively discussion on how to post 9 hole scores... check that out if you have any questions.

@Getoffmylawn no short bus here... not much different than playing with your home men's club or group.  use your GHIN index or other method to calculate your course handicap, post your gross score, the number of strokes over or under the par for the course, a few other questions in the "post score" template, and your net score is calculated and added to the leaderboard.  The beauty of this great game is that EVERYONE can play and compete with each other regardless of their ability by using the handicap system.   Net Score is the measurement for this competition, and the handicap makes that possible.

A few reminders to everyone... you can post as many scores a week as you want.  Only the top score will be used each week for the Forum Cup Points race.  Also, feel free to be as descriptive as possible about your rounds in the comment section.  One of the best parts of looking through the thread each week, is not only seeing the scores, but the commentary on the different shots that led to those scores.  This is a forum afterall 🙂

Enjoy Season 2 Everyone!!

Cold day, blowing winds but had a ton of confidence and was the best round I have had in a few weeks. Looking forward to building off of it.

Had a hole out from a bunker for par, nearly chipped on two more times. Made some great putts and driver was solid all round.

Errors came with little mistakes and things that are avoidable so looking forward to a round tomorrow and maybe Thursday to crack 80 again.

First day playing in 2022 in Nebraska. Played three times in March in Myrtle Beach but the courses here just opened last week. Greens were in rough shape still and was like putting on living room carpet but it was great to get out. Still getting used to my new clubs which meant a lot of missed greens that I don’t normally miss. Going out again Friday.

Good morning PW!  And welcome to Season 2 🙂

I just wanted to let you know that I edited your score... I think you posted your net score (75) in the field for the strokes over par, so I changed that to "9" assuming your course is a par 72.  if that is incorrect, you can edit the score, or let me know and I can edit it for you to be accurate.

Also, based on the time of day and the fact that it is still dark outside where I am...;) I'm assuming this was a round from last weekend.  You can back date the scores to the actual date played.  Which would put this score in last week's tourney (weekly events run Monday though Sunday).  But no harm no foul... we can let this score post for this week's leaderboard as a transition round from last week to this week 🙂 .

I can imagine golf in Wisconsin is amazing... once the winter subsides.  Glad to hear you are on the front end of your golfing season there.  Looking forward to many more scores posted from you!

You were out on the course EARLY today Jamie!  I want to hear more about that bunker shot.  was it a chunk and run or a spinner that jumped into the hole?  Looks like your game is on point!  and two more rounds this week.  You are a mad man!!  Must still be riding that Curling Club Championship Victory high!!

Well the first bunker shot was a chunk into the lip (4 foot high?) The next was a nice splash up to roll out about 12 foot and in.

It's been raining like crazy here so bunkers are more mud then sand. It's often a hit and hope because of that.

nice!!!  I actually love hitting sand shots when they are on the firm side... as long as you can get the club into the sand, and you can splash it.  Fluffy sand after a bit of rain is the best!!  The hardest part about sand shots for me is trusting the full follow through.  But the results don't lie.  Ok now I want to go spend an hour in the bunker 🙂

The sand in our bunkers is different from bunker to bunker, depending on how much wind each gets, and none of them resemble the sand in our practice bunker.  Our course renovated 3 bunkers on the #2 hole last fall, and have been working to make bunkers better, but with limited staff it's not a high priority.  I used to hate being in bunkers, but the more I play from them, the better and more confident I get.  The followthrough swing is the key.

Back in my old home (and your home.. the northwest) I could at least expect the bunkers to be reasonable consistency of sand.  I hear what you are saying about wind blown, and bare ground issues... but I could always count on a splash if I needed it, as long as there was sand there.  Now... at my current home (Houston) at least at my course... it is a different sand, and I have never struggled so much with executing sand shots.  Similar to what you are saying... bunker to bunker, you never know what you are going to get, and the course sand used at my course (probably in an attempt to keep it from being washed away when we get the storms... southern rain is VERY different than PNW rain, I will tell you)... it is a challenge.  But a fun challenge  (until I'm in the heat of a match and think I have some sand to work with and hit hardpan - sending my bladed ball over the green and into the pond on the opposite side.... oh yes, I have experienced that exact scenario  haha).

I used to prefer the sand to trying to chip shots close... I'm now a much better chipper than I used to be... so maybe I traded one for the other.  Ah... GOLF>

I have my worst results when we have lots of fresh sand; I usually take more sand than I should... dig too deep, because this is the rarest condition we see.  I'm decent out of "normal" sand, but I had to figure out how to hit shots out of bunkers with very little to no sand.  I've bladed a lot of shots!!  The best I've figured out is to pick the ball with my 60º, but the energy put into the swing has to be much less than a normal bunker shot or it goes too far.

Our golf courses are closed for a few more weeks to 5 weeks out. We had major snow storms in the past few weeks, and this week it's going be bad too, with snow reaching 1 foot on my local golf course! So sad!

Finally a lovely sunny day. Started off putting poorly again, culminating in a 4 putt on a par 3 leading to me abandoning my new putting style, and suddenly I can find my range again.

THe rest of the round was a tale of awkward lies and being blocked in by trees. This one felt like it could have easily been 6 or 8 shots better on another day…maybe next time 🙂

I so want to play...but the snow melts one day and it's back the next.  Our Men's association had our opening social last Wednesday, but at this rate we won't be playing for another couple weeks.  Our course is up on the bench and still under snow! And it's snowing right now again. 😂

New picture from today...and I only live a block from the course.  Looking forward to the Icebreaker tournament in July 😜
