To borrow the punchline from an old joke, "Father, I'm tellin' EVERYBODY!"

 

Just heard from #2 son David that he's been named co-captain of the Clarke University Lacrosse team!

 

Clarke is an NAIA school in Dubuque, Iowa with a start-up program - the coach that recruited David has already quit (scummy move) and several players bailed because the first coach was struggling while he was there.  The assistant coach apparently liked David's leadership while things were hard and decided to put the C on his chest.

Many years ago I had an ex-wife who told me once that she took Lacrosse as a PE course in college (Bowling Green) because she like the sound of the name.  THEN she found out that she had to run.  Oops!

Congrats! I LOVE small college sports. I played Division 3 football, and we always played 1-2 NAIA schools each season. The smaller school athletes play for the love of the game. I find it funny when fans of D1 school sports knock D2, D3, or NAIA schools as glorified high school, but these are usually people that never actually play.

LOL!  That's southern Iowa...

 

Actually, took those in San Diego last year - he played for a Minnesota statewide team in a tournament there. He played lacrosse, I played Torrey.  It was win-win

Thanks for all the kind words gang - glad the boy is seeing that working hard and making the right decisions when things are tough is always the right thing to to. Very proud of the lad.

Big #32 in the back -- that's my boy!!

 

 

Season starts March 2nd against crosstown rival University of Dubuque.  He'll be traveling from Dubuque to Toledo to Chicago to Ottawa and Leavenworth, Kansas, into Missouri and other places.  Gonna be kind of exciting!
