I couldn't stop thinking about them and finally pulled the trigger on 2 new S23 wedges. I don't know exactly when they will arrive, but hoping in the next 4 weeks. Can't wait!

I genuinely am not thinking about replacing anything right now, if anything maybe adding a 4w for those tight tee shots... but my HyWood worked so well with those last season, I kind of don't want to mess with things.

Callaway Apex Pro also merits a look in this category of "not a hook machine" hybrids.

I'm playing the 3 & 4 Apex Pro Hybrids and they're NOT going anywhere anytime in the foreseeable future- they're probably the safest clubs in the bag

Ok- MAYBE I'm a little biased- but last night confirmed why I stay away from SOME of the Big Box golf stores. I was in one (We'll call it Richard's) and noticed that they had a Paradym 3 wood in the demo bay. The only shafts they had were the HZRDUS Grey 60-5.5 and the Black 70-6.0.(But the kid there said they could order any shaft I wanted😏). I just wanted to see how it set up to the ball and how it felt etc...... I opted for the black just to check it out (knowing that it doesn't necessarily fit my swing- kinda like trying to swing rebar). He told me I was doing pretty good and I was carrying it 175 with a slight fade. He apparently didn't have the LM set up right (my Apex 7I carries 170). So after a few more hits I decided that it looked/felt pretty good and I'll have to go to Golf USA (tell them that I cheated on them) and try it with more suitable shafts.

My "equipment" desires continue to evolve:

- Still very interested in picking up a new cart bag, and I almost pulled the trigger on a Sun Mountain C130 today but I just couldn't do it!  I don't know why I'm struggling with this one but it feels like a huge decision!

- Strokes Gained tracking - I'm about a month out from my DECADE Elite subscription expiring, and I don't think I'm going to renew.  Even with a promo code it's pretty expensive, and while I'm a huge fan of the content, it's hard to feel like once you know the DECADE system and math, you know it...from that point on you're paying for webinars and mental outlook reminders.  Mark Broadie's Golfmetric app might be an option.  Or, I stick with Arccos long term.  Decisions decisions.

- GPS - Same thing, stick with Arccos or look at another app solution. I'm really enjoying the conditions-adjusted yardages, and I'd like to get back to using GPS more than my laser, but I'm just not sure I want to be wed to Arccos.  Maybe, maybe not,.

Honestly, the Motocaddy GPS might be the way to go!

https://mygolfspy.com/motocaddy-m7-gps-electric-golf-caddie-going-the-distance/

I wish...I might as well hire a divorce lawyer shortly after making THAT purchase. 😂

And, I'm kind of thinking about a TSR 7-wood... 🤔

This can be an expensive sport...

Ahhh where to start.... With a new season brings thoughts of shiny new things....

I have a fitting coming up at the end of the month for *CLASSIFIED* and I'll also be spending some time with wedges.  I keep saying that it's getting to the point of replacing them without actually replacing them, but having the results from a fitting will be helpful there.  It will also help me see if I need to adjust anything at the top end of my bag between my hybrid and fairway.

At least I can force myself to hold off from any "Buy it Now" buttons until after my fitting results!

I did DECADE for the first year and like you felt that it gave me the foundation that I need.  I can track the Tiger 5 on my own and don't feel like my game is "good enough" to warrant needing the elite level tracking.   I use ShotScope for my strokes gained.    Haven't heard of the Golfmetric app;  sounds like something to research.

I recently purchased the Ping G425 LST, but kept the stock shaft. Today I am picking up the shaft I really wanted. The Project X Hazrd Smoke Yellow 60G Stiff cut to 45 1/4 inches with a Golf Pride MCC grip. Will probably put it in play today.

Was also gonna mention take a look at ShotScope - very accurate GPS, strokes gained analysis and possibly the most hands off solution out there, for those who prefer not to muck with their phone during a round.

Budget friendly, too - buy it once, no subscription, free course updates included.

Thinking about, actually, getting rid of a putter... After that initial honeymoon period just not really loving my Edel anymore... 🤷‍♂️ May be listing it in B/S/T soon.

May sell my Scotty Cameron 11.5 which I bought last winter. Not happy. Ben trying an Odyssey Eleven S with zero aiming on top, and love the feel and sound from the White Hot insert. Will be in the bag this week.

Thinking of ditching the chipper I've experimented with for about 6 months. I find the good ones I hit with it could be accomplished with another club. Most of the time that club is a putter, actually. The SIK DW 2.0 I switched to recently has a heavy billet construction and is a weapon from the area 2 yards around the green for me.

I think a couple more months of gaming it including some practice through 3 cuts of grass and pop and roll shots off a grass tuft type shots will elimate any desire to grab anything else in those situations. Any lies around the green that can't be putted I can spin my 56° which I'm getting good at.

I dislike the insert, particularly now I'm not using an insert putter. Going back and forth between a milled putter and insert chipper is creating inconsistency. Some of my worst shots lately come from hitting the metal somewhere around the chipper insert. Often ended further away than it started.

The other side to above is, what to do with the spot opened up by ditching the chipper?

Wanted a 3w after seeing and now feeling in hand the G425 and TSi, had my eyes open, seen some sub $200 range. Don't want to spend that but what really keeps me from getting one is my 4w performance.

I think 17° is my happy place for a fairway wood, my driver is happy at 11.25° I don't see a reason to pack that part of the bag with options from 195-220 yards. If I were a single digit handicap I'd probably view this differently.

This leads me to want a 5i. 5H is adjustable down to 23° and 3H is neutral 20° I think a 5i would fit in that setup (my 6i is 26.5°) with the ultimate goal being a smooth iron swing that is only ever 100% effort if I really need to reach a tiered green or clear water. I'd like to reach a point I swing 90% every time with an iron in my hand.

I might consider finding a 5i with a steelfiber shaft to match the hybrids. It would be a chance to test if I'd enjoy having them in the rest of my irons, especially if my aim is slower more consistent swing speed with my irons.

The thought process is I could hit a 5i with the right setup about 8 yards further than I hit my 6i now and be more tuned in with my current 6-AW

I completely revamped my bag since last fall, 14hdcp senior, with G425 5-U, replacing i500's for more forgiveness. I do carry a G425 5W with my driver (just cut to 44.5"), but I traded my G410 4H-5H-6H for G425 7 and 9 fairways. Years ago I had a seven heaven & divine nine, and loved them. Thought I'd turn the clock back and try them again. These clubs have so many setting on the hosel, that it will take a while to see which settings work best to fill in the gaps.

Two options came up from scanning the interwebs today, both influenced from positive things I've read on here.

I could buy a Maltby head at golfworks and have my local club fitter put a steelfiber shaft in it.

I could get a utility club assembled to custom specs from Sub70.

Any thoughts on these for a 15 handicap?

Thinking hard about buying a new set of Haywood CBs with Recoil graphite shafts.

I got a 7 iron to try the Haywood CBs and they look great, sound great and have some nice LM numbers.

I just bought and built (first time club building - kinda cool) a 6 and 9-iron in the TS-3 heads, to see how I'd like them.  I'm currently a 12-handicapper (though, let's be honest - it's rare for me to shoot that), and though I've only hit them twice (one buckets of balls and once on the course), I was pretty stunned at how a) beautiful they are, b) how GOOD they feel, and c) how forgiving they are considering they're a pure forged head (no goo inside).  The "hard" part about getting them is that they're significantly weaker-lofted than my current gamers (TM Sim Max irons), so my 7-iron is roughly the same (28.5) as the TS-3 6-iron (28 degrees), which means I'd need a 7-club set to get from 25 degrees to 48 degrees, which currently only takes 6 clubs because of the stronger lofts in the Sim Max's.

Not sure if you're looking for a driving iron, in particular, or if you're just interested in the heads a potential future purchase.  I will say I'm pretty stunned at how great they feel and how easy they are to hit.  They're probably SLIGHTLY less forgiving than my Sim's, but considering the upsides (the beauty, the narrow sole, the feeling of a well-struck shot, etc.), it could be a worthwhile trade-off.

Let me know if you go that route!

Driver - PXG 0811 XF - Gen 5, 9 degrees (+1 setting), Oban Devotion TR 65 04
3/5 Wood - Cobra LTDx Max (Blue Colorway)
Utility - Caley X01 Driving Iron (3 = 18*)
Irons (5-PW) - Caley 01T

I recently purchased the Ping G425 LST, but kept the stock shaft. Today I am picking up the shaft I really wanted. The Project X Hazrd Smoke Yellow 60G Stiff cut to 45 1/4 inches with a Golf Pride MCC grip. Will probably put it in play today.

Went back to my PXG 0811x Proto Gen 3 with the same Project X Hazrd Smoke Yellow 60G Stiff cut to 45 1/4 inches. Just love this driver! Average 280 and can move it both ways. I don’t even know why I keep searching anymore.

Some progress in the 5i search. Didn't find anything worth buying but Club Champion had a variety of head shapes to look at while getting my putter regripped.

The range I went to had some older model 4i that are about the loft I'm targeting, but no shafts I'd want. Still got to see what address is like with Ping blueprint, i200 TM Stealth, T300 Titleist then in Dick's I saw a ping crossover that could serve the purpose. Too expensive for messing about with testing something I'm not sure I'll stick with.

Tomorrow I'll drive to Perfect Swing in Tom's River to eye any demos they have around and pick the brains of their knowledgeable employees. Will investigate the cost of taking the KBS tgi 70 shaft I have in an extra club and putting a different head on it to compare w/ CC.

Slight chance I have them put the 5 grips I have waiting for 7-AW I had planned on doing 1 at a time.  The 7i is the only one that almost needs it.

Update: no grip changes, got quotes on different equipment fixes for between 5H and 6i. Through some research, I may have found the cheapest fix. The 27.5° EXS 220h that I have on the KBS shaft can be bent +/- 4° according to Tour Edge. Perfect Swing is willing to try bending it 3° strong to 24.5° but can't guarantee it won't break. $15 for labor and risking breaking something worth $15 in trade value seems worth it to see if that club will gap above my 6i.

Where I'm at in the iron search, likely adding this to my 6-AW.

I am leaning toward KBS steel tour v 90 in the black pvd finish. I think the weight and launch are closest to what I want. Tgi tour 70 graphite is definitely lighter than I should have in this club it's inviting too much pace in my swing for the pull.

Besides I had the Tgi tour 70 in a club already, I want to see what the tour v 90 feels like. Anyone have input on these?

Also, anyone have input on No1 grips? They look cool, but I don't want to make the price higher for something I'm going to cut off. I read a few reviews here already and they all seem positive on the pro 50.

Update: Went ahead with the 24° purchase today. Went with No1 grip pro 50 in all black and KBS shaft black pvd steel tour v 90.

I can't wait for Sub70 to get this beauty out to me.

Anyone know if Cleveland is releasing a new woods line this year?  I keep seeing their Launcher XL Halo line dropping in price which is typically a sign a new release is coming.
