You ain't kidding. Back several years ago I was climbing in a tree stand I had borrowed from a buddy and had the bottom slip out from my feet. I was able to hold on to it by the tip of my right foot. I was sweating bullets trying to get it back up to where it was stable and didn't want to risk falling from the height I was at, which was around 10 feet. I couldn't imagine how bad 15 feet is. I managed to get it stable, but let me tell you, I got one crazy ab workout. I'll never borrow another stand if I hunt again.

So back in Oct. i tweaked my left knee jumping out of the back of my Truck. Long story short torn meniscus. was supposed to get surgery mid to end of Dec. well Insurance would not approve it until 12/23. I am pretty sure they drug their feet until I would roll over to the next yrs deductible. But anyways, had surgery on 1/10. One of the tears had a piece floating inside, so the Dr. cleaned up both trears, Cleaned up the cartilage under my Femur, and removed so old scar tissue. All went well, LAst Monday had my post-op follow up and was giving the all clear to resume normal activites, just 2 weeks after surgery.. He did recommend the driving range and to let my knee dictate how much I can do.. So I told the Grandson @Blakedagolfer that we would goto the range as soon as I could.. Time to test out the knee and get in some time with my New TSR3.. the weather was beutiful clear day with a temp of right at 28*, great hahahah.. first few hit with wedge were not pretty, as I was favoring the knee not sure what to expect. Then I just stepped in and hit one without thinking, and WOW the knee felt good.. after that it was game on, LOL. once i worked my way to the driver, I was nervous. the only time I have hit it since getting it was on a bad knee.. I only hit maybe half a bucket ( not wanting to push it) Total. and about 8-10 were with driver. I wish i had picture of the face because all the strikes were center face and only 1 of those would not have hit the dead center with at least a portion of the mark.. it was just slightly high and towards the toe. and OMG that ball just launched, long high and with a slight fade. I could not be happier, considering it was freezing cold and just 2 weeks out of surgery.. Bring on Summer..

Ohh!  And I thought shrubs and bushes were there so we can use ladders!  😆

I still get on a ladder to trim my shirt trees (SWMBO watches... like I watch her using a knife in the kitchen), but leave the bigger trees to an arborist friend.

While golfing in AZ the past two weeks my wife and I both had injuries.  Being a rental car, we had some issues with knowing how to operate these newfangled contraptions; back seat door.  My wife was in the back seat and her brother was riding shotgun; she had been having trouble opening the door, so I reached for the handle to open it for her... just as she "bashed" it open!!  Door hit my hand and jammed my right wrist.  It hurt.  For the next few days playing golf I had to release my right hand from the club at impact.

On Sunday my wife was riding in the cart with her brother and he parked on the cart path next to a curb.  She got out and tripped over the curb, doing a face-plant in the desert.  Fortunately, she wears two golf gloves otherwise her hands would be all scraped up, but she injured her left shoulder a little.  Didn't play her best on our last round before we flew home.

Another week, another foot and a half of snow here. Was shoveling my driveway this morning, slipped on the ice, and strained my left thumb breaking my fall. And so, upon getting to my office, I did the most important thing: grabbed a club to see if I could swing.

No bueno.

I don't think it's that serious and I suspect it'll be fine in a few days. Might have to take a week off of Stacking, though, and that's annoying. On the plus side, since the snow doesn't melt here until April (at the earliest), I should be fully healed by the time the season starts.

Sorry to hear this.  I did see Mike Carroll's tweet to you though...are you going to do some Single Arm Stack swings while you heal?

Which hand did you hurt, and do you recall from your baseline if that hand was slower or faster than the other?

Looks like before I did any Stacking, my lead arm was slightly faster, and in my progress check, they had evened out.

I'm mostly planning to do slow motion swings (working on technical stuff that my coach wants me to change). Not planning to do full intensity Stack stuff for (at least) a few days, depending on how the hand feels.

I also built myself a rope to swing, and that's pretty easy to do without straining my hand.

Sorry about your injury. Shoveling snow is bad enough on it's own. Mid Atlantic weather this winter has been odd. I play every Wednesday year round (almost). Played today, 41 and off and on light rain. I would have quit after 9 because I was playing to my ordinary 12 but one of the group, an 8, was 2 under parr after 11. I continued to play to validate his score and keep him from getting too excited. Hit it short left on 12, a parr 3. Ball plugged on the bank. 45 degree slope. After finding some way to walk up the slope, I scuffed it onto the green but while trying to walk down the slope, I lost control. After about 10 steps of being out of control, I intentionally went down to keep from falling over a cart path guard rail and into the trees. Result, partially torn groin and bruised hip; but somehow I feel lucky.no Wednesday golf for about 3 weeks.

I thought I'd post this up here instead of throwing the negative juju over on the Good Morning thread.

I talked to my doctor and she said my issues today with sweating and weakness could have been caused as a reaction to the steroids. She did say she thought it was weird since it would be more likely early on in the treatment when you start out taking six pills in a day. I'm feeling better now, I'm not pouring sweat but I still have tiredness in my legs. I took a long nap after leaving work. Now it's just about drinking lots of fluid to help wash the medication out of my system.

As far as my foot goes, she did mention I have a bone spur. She didn't tell me the location, but I have an appointment with a specialist in early November. Hopefully, that means I don't have a messed up tendon. She did advise caution with the foot doctor since I do have a history of surgeries on my feet. I planned on that, anyways. I'm a bit protective of them.

That’s no bone spur, that’s a monstrous fishing hook. Looks like they will be shaving that bad boy down. On the bright side your pain will be gone after healing and you have the off season for golf coming up so you won’t miss much.

Good thing they finally found the cause of your recent foot pain. Hope they take care of it soon.

I'm hoping if they go that route the recovery time is short, but I really want them to go the surgery route and get it taken care of.

They will either do open or endoscopic. But either way they still shave and shape. Endoscopic has a quicker recovery. Either way you’ll be walking the course pain free. Since you are on your feet all day for work you need to look into good fitting shoes or special inserts to prevent this from happening again.

I'm definitely going to push for surgery, I want back on the course asap. It's been driving me crazy. It's funny, I can deal with the pain but it's the lack of golf that finally motivated me to see a doctor.

Thanks for bringing that up, Tom. I hadn't thought about insoles so I'm glad you did. I know from looking over the chart in also going to need something with some good arch support to go with it.

Well, it's not the bone spur causing my issues. The doctor started moving my ankle around and through diagnosis she determined it was an issue with the Talus joint that allows movement of the ankle side to side. I'm meeting with a surgeon in the 20th to discuss surgery that's going to involve fusion.

I'm gutted right now. I don't know what this will do to affect everyday life or golf. I could go the route of cortisone shots, but that's not going to solve the issue. We're having some serious discussions here at home about everything.

I've had multiple operations on both feet and do have some dread about another one. I just don't look forward to another one.

Thanks Mark! I appreciate you reaching out, it means a lot. That's what I love about our community, were truly a community. We'll make it through this, I've been through worse. It's the unknown that makes it tough and I'm allowing myself a moment of weakness before I steel my resolve and tackle this thing head on.

I hope that everything works out for you on this. Foot pain is no joke for golf or everyday life, tough one to deal with. Hopefully the surgeon has good information for you when you meet with them.

I appreciate it! Hopefully they have some more information for me so I can make the best decision possible.
