Master's Tickets: Would You Do This Deal??

There is a person on our local Nextdoor who has TWO tickets to the Tuesday practice round at Augusta and wants to trade them for  ONE 4-day pass to the tournament. This person seems flabbergasted that no one is taking them up on this incredible opportunity. So I ask my fellow spies-If you had one 4-day tournament pass would you trade it for 2 Tuesday practice round tickets so you could take a friend/spouse/significant other?

I would say yes. Before you guys collectively drag me let me just say this…all I’ve ever wanted is a practice round pass.  The TV experience for competitive rounds is the paragon of all sporting events.  The coverage is elite.  I could be perfectly content seeing the sights on a Tuesday so I could return home seated next to my $3,752 worth of shop merchandise while on my couch.

Last year during the PGA I went for two days and I hit my limit halfway through day 2. It was enough golf and I was over all the golf bros.

Yes, I’m aware this is ANGC and the decorum is a world apart.  I’d be perfectly fine with one day and soak it all in  

Four days would be wasted on someone like me.

Possibly…if it were a close friend I’d say absolutely yes. 
 

Maybe even yes if they weren’t super close friends.  
 

I’be been very fortunate in life to have some excellent friends who are very successful in their lives. They’ve given me experiences I never would have had on my own. If I could do something special like that for someone else it would be my way of paying it forward.

This actually makes a lot of sense to me! I went to the Tour Championship, and really felt like that halfway through the day. Plus the beer and drinks was super expensive!

This is a fair point. I have also been lucky enough to attend every practice and tournament day at Augusta and can honestly say the TV viewing experience for this event is so much better than the limited action you will see, or not see based on being 22 people deep in a crowd, in person. That being said, every golf fan should have the experience of being there in person at least once.

I'm with @bens197 here. I just want to set foot on the property and take it in. The golf is secondary to me, especially when you consider how much better the coverage is for the Masters. I would also expect the guy to sweeten the pot somewhat, as it's not exactly a fair trade, but I'd certainly consider it.

About 20-ish years ago, we had Monday practice round tickets, but it was rained out for the first time in who knows how long. We didn't make it past the gate. Back then, cameras were allowed during practice rounds, so I had ~15 rolls of film I planned to blow through taking pics of the course.

Would I rather go to a practice round in person and then watch the actual golf at home?  Absolutely

Would I straight up trade $3k worth of tickets for a $6k ticket, no chance.

But if there was some financial compensation thrown in I would 100% pick a practice round over an actual round.
