What Have You Bought Lately? (CHA - Club Ho's Anonymous)

On a whim i decided to check out what my TSi Hybrid and my Epic Max Heavenwood was worth in trade.   I just have never got on with a hybrid and when I replaced it with a Ping iCrossover, i found the Heavenwood (which i loved but was starting to really hook) less useful.  I used a TSr 2 this past summer and enjoyed it, but wanted to see how i did with the TSr3.   Well, I didn't know what I was missing.   A few hits and the feel was superior to the 2 and I saw some increased distance as well.  While I need to continue to get better and the colder weather isn't helping to dial it in, I think I will be very pleased with the trade in.   Those three clubs (2 that I didn't use for a while), a coupon, a gift card, and $120 later the TSr2 has been upgraded to a TSr3.

I have been eying the TSR3 driver for a while as every time I hit one I always hit it very well and being someone that loves to tinker “probably to a detriment at points” I love all the adjustments to dial it in. After keeping myself from it for a while I got carried away on ebay and went a little higher then I told myself I would but was still a good deal. That said when I won I was like then when it ask me to pay I was haha. Going to change tip adapters on my GD DI and put it in the head. Now to delete eBay, haha

... Early self Christmas resent. My Evnroll 5.1 putter arrived today and gotta say everything was perfect. Many of you know that can be rare these days so I was pleasantly surprised.

... Score! I had a sonogram the other day so no water or coffee then, stopped at Whole Foods for a few things on my way back home and grabbed a 12oz cup of black coffee. $2.50 cents so your golf club cost less than a cup of coffee!

Congrats on the new putter.  I treated myself to the Stealth 2 HD with the same shaft as you.  Any thoughts on the driver (likes and dislikes)?  I was also curious why the no alignment line on the putter?

... I just don't like alignments of any kind on my putters. Played with an 8802 for about 25 years and then a Bobby Grace 6330 for another 10 and both didn't have any alignment aids. So just a personal preference. 

... I picked up a Stealth2 and while I have hit a few of my longest drives, the HD is consistently longer, more accurate and more forgiving. There is a reason the Ventus Red is so popular on the LPGA and on PGA Tour in fairway woods. So basically all likes for the combo and the only dislike would be occasionally I launch it a little higher than I would prefer. Obviously operator error but that is my only negative. I moved up a tee box on some holes and moved back a tee box on others. A short par 4 dogleg over water calls for a 225 carry and unless there is wind into my face, I have complete confidence in the HD/Ventus and out of my last 10 rounds only missed the green twice ending up in the bunker with both. 

... I'd wish you good luck with your new combo but I don't think you are gonna need it.

Recently got a bonus and sold some golf gear that I have been meaning to sell for a bit, and with all that I finally pulled the trigger on some premium shafts. Got fitted for driver and FW. The shafts in question were the FUJIKURA VENTUS TR BLUE & RED! I am so excited I just can't stand it! For driver, I got fitted for the Ventus TR Blue 7 TX, and the FW was the Ventus TR Red 8 X. My dispersion was insanely tight. Between my swing being in the best place in my life and these new shafts! Mmmm, look out Virtual Tour!

I broke down and replaced my trusty 0311p gen3 irons with a new set of jpx923 forged. The bleeding didn't stop there. I ordered a new PXG gen6 driver. Just waiting for that one to show up at the house.

I was able to sneak a quick look at them and these look brand new!  The set is the 5 - aw with the recoil dart shafts.

FYI for anyone else... if you know your way around reddit /r/golf theres a dude who works for CPO'd and will if you dm him cherry pick the **** out of stuff if you send him what you are looking for.  At least that was the case, assuming it still is.

I just purchased a set of the Kirkland Signature blade irons for $499.   Actually, I bought 2 sets.  One for myself and one I've got listed for sale for $750.   They have a good feel to them and I like the launch angle, spin and distance I get from them.  I'm a 5 handicap and in the old days I won a few club championships.  I had the club champion parking space, my photo in the lobby, etc.  Anyway, I shot a 78 today with the Kirkland blades and I must say I'm impressed.  That was with two doubles.

I've actually been searching through FB marketplace and landed myself on a great condition GAPR Lo 3 driving iron in an x-flex. Needless to say, its a nuke and went straight in the bag. Now I just got to sell my old PXG 4 hybrid. Loved it just needed the lower spin fairway finder!!!

Interesting. Glad to hear and I hear the driver is nice too.  How do you like the look in person? I think theyd look so much cleaner with no color in the logo. I saw them today at the course and thought wow, what a huge cosmetic difference that would be. Very nice looking clubs however

I believe its been confirmed that the Kirklands are this SMT model. Random info.

Had to run a couple errands why the wife is showing homes and found this on FB market place for cheap.  The online shaft fittings have put me in the HZRDUS black gen 4 60 and I have read great things about the yellow.

Just before the Christmas break I got told I've got a promotion I've been chasing for a while, that comes with a very nice 22k pay bump, so I've ordered my Apex 24' irons. Went 4i Pro, 5i-8i CB, and 9i-10i MB, with KBS Tour V X Flex shafts, 2° up, with MCC+4 grips with +2 wraps. 

 

Now we play the waiting game... Apparently going to take 7-8 weeks to come to Aus from Callaway US since they can't source the shafts here.

I received a nice Christmas gift of $$ from one of my main customers this week so I decided to complete my Edison wedge set and ordered the 49* to match up with the 53* & 57*!  The set up will be the same across all three, KBS 120 S shaft and 2* flat.  

It shipped yesterday and I should be swinging it next week if we get a day or two out of the 30's.

When I was fit for my Cobra Irons for the 50th anniversary Cobra Challenge I was fit to the Project x Catalyst graphite 5.5 shaft which is regular flex +1/2” and 1 degree flat. Unfortunately these shafts were no longer available and they supplied my irons with Recoil 95’s.

My old set is steel, stiff and +1/4. By chance I just came across  the exact shafts I was fit into on close out. I got 8 for $100.00 so I can re-shaft my old set and do a better comparison.  Normally when you can find them they want $50 a piece.

I already got notification that they shipped. I’ll have a little project to do next week. 
Ahhh the little things in life that make us happy.

I picked up ferrules from bb&f. The grips are an Amazon find. 13 grips for $34, so I’m not out much if they don’t pan out. Lastly, a set of recoil 110 f4 shafts 4-pw, gw. All that is needed now is the right set of heads to complete this build. What are the right set of heads, you ask? Don’t know, but I’ll know them when I find them. Stay tuned.

CHEAP in wife’s financial terms…. OR CHEAP as in it is not new from the factory?  Who knew that I could be a long distance anti-role model??

Had to get a new SM9 Vokey 56 as my gamer is shot. Would have waited for the SM10 models but had GG rewards and I’m pretty dialed in with the SM9 so why risk the changes was my thought. I’ll hold off getting the Vokey 50 until the new ones arrive.
