Return to form!! I know it's still a plus-10, but lipped out a birdie (cruelty), and missed another four by a combined 6", so it's one of those rounds where I played consistently and gave myself opportunities.

Played the new Chrome Tour X (front nine) and the Chrome Tour (back nine). Kind of stunned by how good they feel, especially the X, since I prefer a softer feel but need a spinnier ball.

Also, that triple-track is legit - I know it's not for everyone, but man...I loved putting with it. Made lining up putts just THAT much easier, and setting up to it even easier.

2nd round of the week, really good conditions.

Put my Arccos sensor back in my clubs because since my lay off I have no idea how far I'm hitting my irons.

Had 3 penalties in the round. 4th stupid decision going for the green on the par 5 and put the ball in a ditch. 7th over clubed and put my tee shot over the green in a bush, then 8th was a bit punitive: missed the green on the left and the ball ran down the hill  20 yds into gorse. But all in all happy

What a day. Hit 11 fairways, but only 11 greens. However, had 29 putts. Had 4 birdies offset by 5 bogies. A few mistakes, but a solid round.

Played a course in Switzerland, and I struggled with the altitude difference and couldn’t quite dial in my yardages. Hit a few bombs, and had some wild up and downs. The home stretch felt like the last two minutes of a basketball game. All in all it was a great round out with @LBee

I only played 17 holes today. Pace was slow. Lady Rover had made it plain that I would be on time for my saintly mother’s 82nd birthday dinner. That’s 82 birthdays, not 82  dinners. 🤣

I said at the beginning of the round I was going in the first group and leaving after my second stroke on 17. We played a deuce pot, and $20 buy in and divided between all players with a deuce. I had 4 putts for a 2 today and made one so I won some money. 17 players, $340. I know there was at least 1 more.

I missed having 4 deuces today by a combined 9”. But very little wind. Unfortunately, since everyone I play with can hit the green and make a putt, there were 68 chance.

Great warmup at the range, then couldn't hit a ball to save my life on the course.  Hit pretty much all of the trouble, which was mostly trying to cut back from the other fairway.  Not much sand, which was good, but certainly had trouble in the short game.

Beautiful course, with plenty of ocean views.  The only bummer is the clouds rolling in right at sunset.

Better showing than my last couple rounds - working through some swing changes (see shared thread with @Preeway), but can feel some improvement already in ball striking.  Last round before my annual guys golf trip - looking forward to it!

First, some business from yesterday. There were 8 deuces, 2 on each par 3, so no skins on them. Only 6 players were in the deuce pot so $57 each.

Today was different. Not much wind yesterday, but 25-35 mph today. We had 25 yesterday and only 3 today. There was a large group that were spilling over into our tee times, so we elected to give them all our times and went off the back. We played 10-18, 3-9, and 1&2. No wait, finished in 2:45. I had arrived early and changed my grips. I blow them on and my compressor is broken so I went to the cart barn and used theirs. I noticed yesterday that because of arthritis in my middle, ring and pinkie on my left hand, I had to slow my swing down to compensate and keep ahold of the club. Now that my knees and ankle are better, this was noticeable in my hand. I put Jumbo Max JMX Ultralites S on my driver and 3 hybrid. And midsize Best Grips on the other. I didn’t use my 3 wood today because I will put a JumboMax on it, but couldn’t find my 3rd grip.

Okay, for the round. First hole was down wind. I assumed since my drive went 30 more yards than usual, my approach would also. It did not and buried in the bunker. The wind pushed my par putt up the hill, so that old me to play the wind not the slope. Bogeyed 10 and birdied 11 thanks to a wedge to 4’. I had aimed off the green, and it blew perfectly. 12-14 it didn’t blow perfectly. I did have 88 yards straight into the wind on 14. I hit a knock down 124 yard shot and didn’t get to the green.  Basically, I bogeyed most of the into the wind holes.

I’ll skip the play-by-play except to say on 5 and 6 I had 30’ birdie putts. The slope was right to left and wind was left to right. I putted it straight and both dropped.

Then we came to number 9. I shot this video because I wanted to have an excuse as to why I double bogeyed a 130 yard par 3. Keep in mind we could not wear hats because they would not stay on our heads.

I shot another video but it failed to upload here, but I got a screenshot of where my roasted knock-down 6 iron ended up. IMG_1704.jpeg.6f53dab1046492c58e38d2be029e6046.jpeg

About 7’ for birdie. I played what would normally be dead straight about 6” up wind, and it dropped.
IMG_1703.jpeg.a71789848ab0ff2e3d92e2889d9fd440.jpeg

This was a fantastic round probably my best ball striking in a couple of years. These grips on the Driver and Hybrid allow me to set up for a draw and swing hard with no worry of going left, or dropping the club. I may end up putting them on all my clubs but no reason too as of yet.

The lessons yesterday translated into me being on fire last night for our sim scramble league putting a -14 down, and then a -7 today. It’s still a Sim round so I would never put that score down, but I would have been even par for sure, maybe just under in real life. The course plays 6000 yards from the tips so it’s definitely short, but the elevation changes are drastic, and can be deceiving if not respected. Everything was firing so well today though, the putter was there to make sure every time I was bailed out if necessary, even though that was sparse.

All in all, small tweaks from the lesson were great and are translating really well!

IMG_0426.jpeg

I played this course for real in 2013. It is one of my favorites of all time. That tee shot on number one was straight down hill and a great hole. The panoramic views through out the entire course are the best.

Oh yeah, I don’t think I broke 80.

This was a fantastic round probably my best ball striking in a couple of years. These grips on the Driver and Hybrid allow me to set up for a draw and swing hard with no worry of going left, or dropping the club. I may end up putting them on all my clubs but no reason too as of yet.

A 72 in heavy winds and 11 net birdies, amazing!

I am a notorious low-ball hitter. Most of my approach shots are normally 3/4 knock downs. It’s been the long game holding me back. Although, the putts on 5&6 were just lucky. I tried it on 1, 7, and 15 and it didn’t work and they were shorter. Actually, 6 was funny because I wasn’t even trying to make it. Just get it close.

I have played or practiced for the past 10 days in a row. That’s the first time I’ve been able to do that in a couple of years. Actually, I’ve play 12 of the last 15 days. I feel like I improved some aspect of my game or bag every time.

Adding loft to the G430LST driver to replace the SIM2 Max, and then the JumboMax grips. Swapping the hybrid for the G425 Hybrid, I thought this was a mistake, until I added the JumboMax to it, but I added loft to it and set to +1° Flat. Mid size grips across all the others. And I’ve switched balls. TP5 was too spiny before but not now. The AVX that was my normal ball is no longer the best, although I have more testing to do.

Although I played this course today as a SIM round, I have actually played it a few times in the past on trips to Myrtle Beach so I was very familiar with the layout and shots required.

Played the SIM round after spending an hour or so on the range, so I was warmed up, and swing was in decent shape for winter golf season here.

Had 4 bogies, and 2 birdies, and only missed 2 fairways and 4 greens. A couple of the missed greens were on par 3 holes, and that is where the bogies occurred.

Supposed to be in the 60's here next weekend, and I am really hoping to get out on Sunday if I can find a course near home that is open.

I played this course for real in 2013. It is one of my favorites of all time. That tee shot on number one was straight down hill and a great hole. The panoramic views through out the entire course are the best.

Oh yeah, I don’t think I broke 80.

This course only being 5 hours away from me has put it high on courses to play. That sea to sky highway is always gorgeous! I really agree with the first hole, can only imagine what the views in real life look like

I felt like this week's round was a little lackluster. My swing felt a little "off" and I just could not do much at home practice. Also, work has been a pain in the butt so maybe it is more mental from this week than anything else. Stick played well and had a great time, but it did not feel like one of my more outstanding rounds.

This week's round was also focused on some ball testing personally I am doing for my choice of 2024 balls. The battle between TP5X and Bridgestone B XS commenced this week and it was a pretty bloody battle, to say the least. More testing to come but it was fun to play with these new balls and I will say there were definitely some benefits between the two.

*I will be posting the link for my ongoing test here soon.

Ha ha, you are bombing it. Last week I had a gale behind me. I can’t hit it as far as you without the help of wind, cart path or hitting a sprinkler head…. Ha ha

Well, admittedly I am playing at altitude so I am not sure I can take all the credit haha. I wish I knew math conversion to see what my drives would be at sea level but I just simply haven't looked into that yet haha

Makes perfect sense. When I moved from San Diego to central Texas I gained 20 yards plus off the tee. Plus, I found the middle of the club more once I retired, ha ha
