As a whole, solid round today.

driving and approach were not stellar but serviceable. Wedge and putting were lights out.

44/42. 5 fairways, 4 greens, 28 putts 3 up and downs including a sand save. 2 penalties.

7 pars, 8 Bogeys and 3 doubles. I’ll take the no worse than double but all 3 were my fault (I said wedge play was stellar but 2 of these were piss poor wedge shots when I was in position for at worst a par, I quickly forgot because everything else was 💰)

approach came around towards the end of the round

We walked and finished in 4:19. Super happy with the score as this is a course I have not played in about 5 years and posted a 101), looking forward to getting out there again soon.

Lauggrd at this, on 16 par 3 (187) @StrokerAce and I couldn’t have been any closer to each other, coming up couldn’t even see the 2nd ball, thought I had my first ace, alas wasn’t in.778D0896-069C-45DD-956B-7C323164F39E.jpeg.46b681264d1ac2f4c88e0f4b524b5dde.jpeg

A different summer day on the golf course.  We had a 7:20am tee time and in was 63º with a breeze.  Had to wear a jacket; took it off on Hole #5.  However, the wind picked up... blowing 15-25mph with higher gusts.

First time playing in this much wind in a couple of months, I had a LOT of bogeys, one double and very few pars.  Shot 87.  Driver was surprisingly good, but my new swing didn't hold up with other clubs.  I had one lowlight/highlight;  On the par 4 #3 hole (#1 handicap) after a decent drive with wind into and from the right, I split the middle.  Second shot over water... uh... didn't make it.  Dropped 3rd shot.  Hit 4th shot with LW at a back pin, but downwind, the ball went off the back.  Chipped in for a bogey.

It was 83º when we finished.  However, the cool weather only lasts through tomorrow.  Back into the 100's starting Tuesday, and 110º on Friday and Saturday.  "I love summer... good ol' summer time."

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Playing at a course with the smallest greens I every played at.  Very frustrating landing by postage size greens and having to pitch/chip every time. Day before I had played at my regular course with generous wide green and so much easier to pitch and  work the ball into the green and when I missed still ended up on the edge of the green

I don’t but if we are playing I’m thinking I can out run you. In the end that’s all that matters, isn’t it?😝😅😎😉

I had a nice round on Sunday afternoon - very solid 39,38 77.

Nice round!!  Water is high here and Gators are moving and hungry!

Finally won a best ball tournament! Personally played well but my teammates played incredible. They all average above 100 but combined to roll in 200 feet of putts! 20210731_145903.jpg.ad6c0095839c5c41af024d31b87ca686.jpg

It’s so bizarre with those gators. For us they are most active in the Spring. I haven’t seen one in a while.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

A couple days ago with the water really high (up to cart path) from all the rain had a 2’ Gator checking out my cart/front tire while we were putting.  He scooted back into the water when I returned to the cart.

Not me again.  My wife had her semifinal match play today; her third 18-hole day in a row.  I wasn't sure if it was a good idea, and asked her if she could postpone it a few days.  Nope!  The lady she was playing is leaving for Seattle for a week; had to be today.

That lady is arguably the second best player in the ladies league.  The best player is the gal we play with on Sundays with her husband.  She can beat me from the Blue tees; from the Forward tees she is a 2 index.  However, she got beat last week by a lady that she had to give 23 strokes to.  She could have beat her, but she didn't bring her A game.

The lady my wife played today has not been playing all that well, and my wife has been scoring in the high 80's for the past couple of weeks.  Well, my wife closed her out on #17 winning 2&1.  Next week she will play the winner of the other match this week; both of those ladies are about 24 index, so my wife will be giving about 7-8 strokes.  Tough match coming up for the championship!!

Shout out to Mrs B! She needs to wear some tiger red and finish them!

Yowza! What a mental thing that must be, to show up on the first tee and already know you're giving TWENTY THREE strokes to someone.

Meh. Haven't posted much lately as there hasn't been much good to report over the last four or five times out. The last scramble I played really did a number on my swing, which I figured would happen. Some solid golf now but mixed in with some absolutely awful holes - a quadruple bogey, several triples and even more doubles.

I'm down to the last 3.5 weeks of my main season and am bummed about the sudden downturn after playing so well all of July. Oddly enough, my driver has been awesome throughout this downturn, but everything else has been miserable.

Going to keep grinding and try to get the ship righted quickly.

I feel this. I am only just starting to really come back from a similar experience. When I moved to TX at the tail end of 2019, I was trending toward single digits and shot an 81 in just my 2nd trip to the local muni. A few months later my game began to spiral and I was regularly seeing scores in the mid 90's to low 100's. My last handful of rounds have yielded scores in the mid to upper 80's. Luckily for me, I can play all year and hopefully continue getting better.

Played this past Sunday, and I come here to share my tale of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...

I described my card after my opening five holes as Mickelsonian.  I went birdie, bogey, par, bogey, birdie, to be even thru the first five.  Making it worse, #4 is a par 5.  I made par on #6 and #7 to stay even.

Woo!  Good round on the way, right?  Behold!  The gift that only L.O.F.T. can provide....

I proceed to bogey the shortest par 5 on the course, then also the 431 yd par 4 (#1 hdcp hole).  Bogey #10 for good measure (my nemesis hole, so not the worst).  Then comes the thunder...

I top my tee shot on #11, hit a planter, rebounding almost to the fairway, leaving me 240+ on a 380 yard hole.  Promptly hit my second in to the water.  I make a seven.  Two holes later, I shank a chip shot on a par 3 to the back of a sloped green, and make double.

Defeat is assured!

Wind up playing my last 11 holes in +9 for an 80.

<sigh>

Debated on sad or chuckle emoji... the ricochet off the planter was the deciding factor 😆.  You just gotta love this game at times.
