I believe this is my 5th posting! Kinda lost count tbh haha. Round was similar to what I've been dealing with recently. Crappy off the tee and struggling holding the green. Had a brutal pin today that led to a 3 putt when it could have been a birdie. 9 foot high putt broke 2 feet right slowed down at hole and proceeded to continue 12 feet down the hill, it was rough but that's golf sometimes.

It was VERY windy, but I was hitting fairways and greens and making putts.  Finished in 40+ MPH winds and a dust storm with par - par to post my first ever sub par round.

Had an in all great round. There was a seniors over 75 tournament so pace was on the slower side, including the twosome we were paired with. Started great but wait times killed the momentum a bit. Came across a brown bear cub, never saw the sow. Wife had a dream last night I was murdered by a grizzly so I got freaked out hahahah, definitely altered my focus. Got a couple boxes on the scorecard after that, had two full 180 degree lip outs back, that really blew my mind. First round with my driver backgrom Callaway, it was on fire. Longest today was a 371, slight wind behind but no downhill. Just crushed it, back nine was better, dropped a few birdies and all in all was wonderful. I have the odd slip up with my yardages with these new Takomo irons, but everything is good!

Played with Dad. He kicked my butt.

Hit the first 6 FWs with one rolling to the rough. 10/14 FWs total. 6/8 gir to start. 3 putted 3 of them. 1 putted none. Hit the ball like I knew what I was doing +5 after 8 holes but honestly with a bit of luck and without the 2 pin placements I noted on the scorecard as "devil's pin location" I could have been even par at that point.

Double with another 3 putt was the downfall on #9. Never got back into it. 43-46 for bogey golf score with very few bogeys.

For the Cobra Challenge I challenged @CFreddie so I figured I'd do a lap around the kiddie pool. Bel Aire GC (ironically named luxuriously..the name is the only thing lavish about it) is the closest executive to me, par 60. 

Plan went well, but pace was beyond too slow for me to play my best game, and aerated greens meant I was not going low on this day. 

4/6 fw, 4/18 gir I made a handful of putts that bounced their way in. 

"I'm surprised how well you played considering you had no irons" -playing partner

I didn't feel nearly enthused about the whole ordeal.

Attempt #2 at besting the -5 net posted by my competitor for week 1 of the Cobra Challenge. No irons at Lakewood CC ~6000y par 72.

4 lost balls OB made that an impossibility on this day. 

9/14 fw 0/18 gir made a bunch of putts for par and bogey.

This shows explicitly I don't have the game for a no irons challenge.

I swing harder with my PW it goes higher, not further. Same goes for my 4h often.

Were I to attempt this again I'd lean on driver from the tee more often in the mid distances (140-165.) The Stealth hybrid goes boom on the ball, no matter what % I think I'm swinging it.

From my understanding we have until Sunday to post our best score. Not so much a rematch as a week-long gauntlet. I may only get in 9 holes Sat. then force 9 in the rain on Sunday.

First even par round of the year.  Birdied hole 15 to go one under only to bogey 16 and 17.  Clutch 18 foot birdie putt on the last locked up the 72.

Thanks! I’m taking it with a grain of salt as I played 15 holes Tuesday but ran out of time to finish before my scramble league so had to finish this evening. Still pretty proud of myself, though. I want to break 90 on 18 consecutive holes! 42 on the back 9 though which is far and away a PB, but does include the two day layover. FWIW, I was off to a good start on the back 9 Tuesday

An almost great round.  79.  37/42.  Hit the ball very well today.  8 Fairways and 9 greens.  Three approach shots in the fringe about 2 feet off the green.  Made 2 birdies but also had 2 doubles on the back 9.  Missed 3 birdie putts inside 12 feet. 32 putts. I burned the edges today and probably played too much break on 6-7 putts.

Hello,

First time participating in MGM Virtual Championship. 

Also, it was my first time at Harbor Links Golf Course -- people say it is one of the best public courses around NYC -- if you haven't been, please play there.

It is definitely up there at the top: course layout, and playing conditions -- all included. 

The back tee here was permission only, so I didn't bother to ask, and also my playing mates were all fine with the white tee; pretty long compared to an avg

(6437 yards, 70.5/125 rating)

 

Overall, it was a fun day - Cheers.

My score and the longest drive are by Garmin App and my watch.

A very weird round and really only 3 bad holes which derailed the round.

A few 3 putts which were annoying, but my fault. 

Was running off 4 hours sleep and should have cancelled, but truly just wanted to get a round in since I hadn't since the baby was born.
