DiscipleofPenick
16 hours ago, MaxEntropy said: Played with @DiscipleofPenick and a couple friends of his this afternoon. Started out with a brutal triple and thought to myself "it's going to be one of those days." Didn't pay much attention to score after that, but strung together a few pars and a birdie and finished the front +4. On the back I developed a bad pull with mid irons, but ~100 yards and in was really good. Ended up with 44 on the back and had two birdie putts inside 10 feet that wouldn't fall. Driver wasn't great but didn't get me in too much trouble, irons were good until the pulls started, short game was pretty good, and ended up with 30 putts. It was a fun but hot day. I had 1 birdie on the short par 4 #2, and I just made too many mistakes and I'm still stuck where I can't string a run of pars together. Shot an 81, felt like it could've been about a 77. I 3-putted a par 3, two dumb bogeys on par 5s, and a weird double on the 18th. Bogeys happen and I'm not letting them bother me any more. As long as it's not a 3-putt or on a par 5. Both par 5s I bogeyed were under 500 yards. Just can't allow that. My hcp isn't going backwards, which is good, but I know I'm not playing to my potential. Just now, MaxEntropy said: You are my "pro".... Oh lord you're in trouble. Ok let's take a look at it next time we can get out and have a more open course. 7 2 Quote Take Dead Aim Driver: PXG 0211 10.5* Fairway: Titleist 917 F3 15* Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Boxer Gold 18* Irons: Titleist 714CB 4-PW Wedges: Vokey SM5 & SM6 50/54/58 Putter: SeeMore X2 Costa del Mar Ball: Srixon Z-Star
Popular Post MattWillGolf
This morning’s 9 holes was ok. There was nothing horrible but nothing exceptional. I had only one poor drive. I hit solid shots but today they seemed to clip branches and end up in positions that kept me from going at greens. My chipping was much more solid than my last round. Uneven lies still cause issues. But I beat the rain and enjoyed myself. 13 Quote Ping CB-P226 Hoofer Cart Bag Ping G400 Max 10.5° w/Ping Alta CB PXG 0341 3 wood 15° w/Project X Even Flow Blue PXG 0211 19° Hybrid w/Project X Even Flow Riptide Ping G410 Crossover 23° w/Mitsubishi Tensei Blue PXG 0211 5 - GW w/True Temper Elevate 95 Callaway MD3 54°/12° S Grind w/True Temper Dynamic Gold Callaway MD3 58°/09° W Grind w/True Temper Dynamic Gold Evnroll ER11v 34” Evnroll ER11v Official Review Shot Scope Pro LX+ Pro LX+ Official Review Kirkland Signature v2.0 Clicgear 3.5+
MattF
A lot more solid yesterday than the last two rounds. My two fixes did exactly that off the tee and with the irons. Scratch that, there will be no tweaking of my grip. When I played Sunday, my back and right hip were a little tight and I could not loosen them up. Last night in league, they felt much better. Without any grip changes, I was pounding the driver, which was great. The only problem is any semblance of fade was mostly gone - I was hitting the ball dead straight which landed me in trouble on the left too many times. Finally, on the last hole I aimed down the middle. Of course the fade shows up when I don't want it to. Fortunately, it was far enough right that I had a shot. The first three holes and last two were perfectly acceptable. +1 on those 5 holes with two birdie putts that stopped 1 revolution short. The 4 holes in between were a hot mess, with 2 penalties, a false front that repelled an approach, and some less-than-desirable putting that led to me being +8 on those four holes. Ugh. It was also one of those nights where if there was any luck to be had, it was all bad - my friend and I both hit second shots on 16 that we pushed to the right - his sat down in the rough a few feet from the green, mine kicked way right about 20 yards from the green (it did make me feel better that I was closer to the pin than him after the next shots). In the end, I feel like I was playing better than the score on the card, but that's golf, I guess. 8 Quote Driver: Epic Speed 9* (set -1) MMT 70X 3W: RAZR Fit TourAD something or other 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-AW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 SW: Zipcore Black Satin 54* LW: Zipcore Black Satin 58* Putter: Stroke Lab Marxman Bag: BigMax Dri Active Lite Ball: TP5x Pix Pushcart: BigMax iQ+

This past weekend playing from the white tees, I shot 76 on Saturday and 75 Sunday. Saturday's round had 2 double bogeys and Sunday's round had 1 double. Popular Post Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Had a 51 on the back nine at Forest Hills today. Shot scope told me this was my best SG for driver today but I find that hard to believe as I was all over the place (fadey) and even had one that was only 174 (hit a tree and then rolled down a hill). Doing SS training prior was probably not a good idea even with a 30 min rest after. Granted I had not penalties from the driver so that probably helped. I had 3 pars but way to many ugly numbers. I felt my short game was better but that was my worst SG for the round. Had a few chips that lead to solid pars. Putting about the same as the last nine. Had three lip outs that would have put it in plus territory and would have cut down on a couple three putts. As well had a 30 ft uphill put that i hit to 1 ft that would have been for birdie. Approach game today really hurt me. Had a water ball and then a lost ball on two of the last three holes. The water ball came after an amazing drive on a par 4 (see shot of the day). The lost ball was my 3rd into 18 (par 5). I was 205 out and over drew a 5i (i need to learn to feel hitting a push draw with my long irons to avoid this) and i lost it over by the cart path/range area. Also had a PW on 11 (downhill par 3) that I almost lost left (was odd, i never hook my short irons). Anyways, a fun morning to get out. The three pars were awesome. I just need to string some solid holes together and avoid big numbers. Picture is number 17. Down hill par 3. Ended up parting and just missed the birdie by a foot from 22 feet out. 10 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 1/2" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post edingc
The "regular" part of my season is officially over after this morning's round. Mixed emotions as that means summer is pretty much over and now I shift into fall mode. Just not enough daylight early in the mornings anymore to get a full 18 in before work without taking a bunch of vacation time. Weather will soon follow, I'm sure. We've actually had somewhere between 3"-4" of rain fall Sunday evening through Monday evening, and the course was closed until Tuesday evening for cleanup. Everything is pretty wet and still not a joy to play on. Still hitting the ball really well, and I'm slightly bummed that despite trying to play 18 the past two days, I had to quit after nine due to there being a lot of groups off the back right as I made the turn. No way to make it to work in time trying to play through. 41 yesterday, 38 today. Driver was excellent today leading to six pars and a birdie. Just one bogey and a bad double that was unfortunate. I hit a beautiful 4 utility that just caught a branch on the right side and sat down in some trees and had issues getting out. With a few exceptions I'm probably down to playing nine holes for the rest of the season now as I move into the offseason. 12 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 6.7 / Anti-Cap: 12.8 (Last Updated Oct. 13, 2022) Driver: Callaway Epic Max LS (9°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Club Champion Fitting 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post JerryB
I've never played as well as I played today. I shot +4 40!! So anyway, Owen and I played the back nine at River Heights today. After all the rain the other day, it was too wet to be enjoyable on Monday and Tuesday and we were just busy yesterday. The whole time I've been visualizing the changes in my swing from my lesson last week and it seems to be sticking. Lately my tee shot on ten has been a weak hook with my hybrid so I've been compensating by aiming left. Today, dead straight. Pin high to the right of the green. Chip and two putt for bogey. The less said about eleven the better. Water ball, double bogey. On twelve I hit it square and actually wound up on the back of the green of the short par four. Just missed the long putt but got the birdie to fall. On thirteen I had a good drive and my PW went to the fringe behind the green. Putt from there just missed leaving a tap in par. Fourteen had another good drive that left me in the fairway but with the ball a little above my feet. Chunked the shot, then put my wedge short. Chipped on and two putted for a double. Fifteen was similar: good drive, wedge came up short. Putted from the front fringe and nearly drained the ninety footer! Tap in par. Sixteen was a straight but short drive followed by slicing my 3wood into the trees. Luck was with me because it bounced off a tree and left me a good look. I put the wedge on the green and two putted for another par. Seventeen was the most satisfying. I hit a solid drive but it was left side of the fairway with trees on the left. Hit a good hybrid but it stayed left, leaving me about pin high. Hit my love wedge over the bunker and stuck it about three feet from the cup. Drained the tricky putt for another bird! Eighteen was a solid drive and an 8 iron that drew back just enough to finish on the green resting against the fringe. Mis hit it badly and finished with a three putt bogey. I had one poor strike but otherwise everything was good contact. I hit every (!) fairway and 4/7 greens, both of which are way above my normal. It was hard to get really excited because Owen wasn't playing great. His driver was way off although the rest of his game wasn't terrible. I wound up beating him by ten strokes. Tried to be nonchalant about the round but on the inside I was like this: 11 1 Quote Callaway Rogue ST Max D driver PXG 0211 3 wood and Tour Edge Bazooka 7 wood Titleist 21° hybrid Cobra AMP 5-PW Titleist Vokey SM7 50° 54° and SM8 60° wedges Ray Cook Silver Ray IV putter
