I was actually thinking about this yesterday - I have a pretty strong grip and have been hitting a lot of push/fades lately and was considering tweaking my grip but didn't want to do it on the course.

Have a pro look at it before you make any change yourself. You could lose everything really quick if you change the wrong way.

Played with @DiscipleofPenick and a couple friends of his this afternoon. Started out with a brutal triple and thought to myself "it's going to be one of those days." Didn't pay much attention to score after that, but strung together a few pars and a birdie and finished the front +4. On the back I developed a bad pull with mid irons, but ~100 yards and in was really good. Ended up with 44 on the back and had two birdie putts inside 10 feet that wouldn't fall. Driver wasn't great but didn't get me in too much trouble, irons were good until the pulls started, short game was pretty good, and ended up with 30 putts.

It was a fun but hot day. I had 1 birdie on the short par 4 #2, and I just made too many mistakes and I'm still stuck where I can't string a run of pars together. Shot an 81, felt like it could've been about a 77. I 3-putted a par 3, two dumb bogeys on par 5s, and a weird double on the 18th. Bogeys happen and I'm not letting them bother me any more. As long as it's not a 3-putt or on a par 5. Both par 5s I bogeyed were under 500 yards. Just can't allow that. My hcp isn't going backwards, which is good, but I know I'm not playing to my potential.

Oh lord you're in trouble. Ok let's take a look at it next time we can get out and have a more open course.

A lot more solid yesterday than the last two rounds. My two fixes did exactly that off the tee and with the irons. Only problem is we walked after 14 because the rain turned to a steady drizzle and I'm not playing in that.

Scratch that, there will be no tweaking of my grip.

When I played Sunday, my back and right hip were a little tight and I could not loosen them up. Last night in league, they felt much better. Without any grip changes, I was pounding the driver, which was great. The only problem is any semblance of fade was mostly gone - I was hitting the ball dead straight which landed me in trouble on the left too many times. Finally, on the last hole I aimed down the middle. Of course the fade shows up when I don't want it to. Fortunately, it was far enough right that I had a shot.

The first three holes and last two were perfectly acceptable. +1 on those 5 holes with two birdie putts that stopped 1 revolution short. The 4 holes in between were a hot mess, with 2 penalties, a false front that repelled an approach, and some less-than-desirable putting that led to me being +8 on those four holes. Ugh.

It was also one of those nights where if there was any luck to be had, it was all bad - my friend and I both hit second shots on 16 that we pushed to the right - his sat down in the rough a few feet from the green, mine kicked way right about 20 yards from the green (it did make me feel better that I was closer to the pin than him after the next shots).

In the end, I feel like I was playing better than the score on the card, but that's golf, I guess.

My game can be compared to riding waves.....I play well for awhile at the top of the wave and then fall off the wave and struggle for bit.  This past weekend playing from the white tees, I shot 76 on Saturday and 75 Sunday.  Saturday's round had 2 double bogeys and Sunday's round had 1 double.  Both days could have been special with the exception of a few bad shots.  I hope to keep riding the wave!

With those kind of scores, I'm going to guess the waves are a little bigger for me than they are for you. My high for the year is a 94 (actually a 51 for 9 on a league night) with a low of 81. The ups and downs drive us all crazy.

Thanks. Its a local course. Been around since 1927. Its short (6303 from the tips) but challenging as you need some strategy. There are many other courses around that are amazing as well. If you ever come out to PDX, let me know (As well as @dlow206, @twyatt700, @Kenny B, @Shankster, @Loki659, and @JFish350 just to name a few PNW guys near to Portland/Seattle areas

Shot me a really clean +1 today, 3 bogies, and 2 birdies. Lipped a birdie attempt on 18, darn it!

short game and putting ruled the day. 26 putts. Saved a lot of strokes on 5-10 foot putts that made the difference. Usually they don’t fall, or the little chips aren’t close enuff, but today they worked.

Awesome round!!

A little off topic but...

I concur! Saw him at the open air Jones Beach Theatre (on Long Island, next to a bay and just across the road from the ocean) .. and I just had to double check the # of years ago with my wife .. FOURTEEN years ago... He gets some incredibly, amazing talented musicians to play with him!! Awesome show 👍

We were supposed to go see him again in Austin this Summer but our plans got changed on us... 🤷‍♂️
