The Good Morning Thread

Good morning! Roads are still about 50% covered with ice this morning, so the commute was a little longer than normal. Sidewalks have been mostly cleared, so now it's time to hit the gym for my daily iron intake (chest & tri Monday)! I spent last night writing out indoor practice plans for the next couple of weeks as baseball preseason is now upon us and I am back in the coaching saddle. I hope everyone stays warm - make today great!

G'day all! Had a very slow day today, hit 250 balls at the range yesterday, and apparently I'm not quite back to that level of fitness yet after having to take a couple of months break at the end of last year after hurting my back. Ribs and hips are soooore today lol. Felt good to just work through my whole bag for once, and then played a virtual round using my R10 and my tablet

Good morning all!

Off work today for MLK Jr. Day. Another frigid day in Chicago with negative temps. Going to enjoy the extra day by going to the golf simulator and then watching the Bills game at home.

Good morning spies from a frigid eastern Iowa this morning. Wind chills nearing -40° this morning. A day to get ahead in work and be inside! I hope everyone stays safe and has a marvelous Monday!

Good morning all, so what was more surprising to you this past weekend.

1.  The sheer greed of the NFL and there essentially pay per view playoff game.

2.  The deep freeze weather most of the country is experiencing.

3.  Dallas and Cleveland getting blown out or Detroit finally winning a playoff game.  

4.  Buffalo “snowball” game being postponed due to too much snow. 

5.  Oh, it’s Monday and I forgot to go to work, once I looked out the window. Oh wait, it’s a holiday today and I’m going back to bed.

Hopefully, the game will be played today. Have a great day and stay warm and safe.

Happy Holiday Monday, fellows!!

Well it's officially below the freezing mark here .. thanks so much, Polar Vortex .. but at least it's clear and sunny, so we've got that. For now .. tonight/tomorrow supposed to bring in some of that Winter stuff...

The good news is that after hitting golf balls for an hour on Friday my back is doing much better vs previous seasons - so acupuncture and chiropractor seem to be helping.

Along with a renewed focus on conditioning and light strength building - all in prep for upcoming nice weather golf activities - including the much anticipated MGS Kingsmill Outing!!

Hey @sirchunksalot and Mrs. Sir Chunks - Happy #12!! A bit of a coincidence = my wife and I also celebrated our #12 last Summer.

And @MattWillGolf - hang in there man. Remember the fun times with your buddy .. focus on the positive...

Good morning MGS! This weather, especially with the wind, means nothing is happening around here. No school for the kids due to MLK day. So we will stay inside, stay warm, and wait for FedEx to hopefully deliver my Scotty Cameron Club member kit this week. If I get a chance to practice some putting today on the putting matt in the office that will be the only golf I get in. Have an awesome day everyone!

I'm thankful to have a very loving and understanding wife when it comes to the golf addiction. We're celebrating our 12th anniversary and I'm thankful she's been able to put up with me that long. She's truly an amazing person who's been my rock throughout some of the worst times of my life. 

We're heading to Outback to celebrate tonight. Mom used to buy us gift cards there for Christmas and we try to go there for our anniversary in remembrance of her. Her birthday would have been tomorrow and so we like the tradition.

Good morning Spies on a very cold but not supposed to be working from home holiday today.

Wind chill advisories lasting until early afternoon, and later I will need to go and clean off car and get some fuel for back to work in facility starting tomorrow.

The extreme cold weather supposed to last through next weekend, and then some normalcy is expected to return.

Watched the Lions play an exciting game against the Rams, and they host another game next Sunday. The winner of the Eagles and Bucs come to town.

To say that the excitement level of football fans here is through the roof would be an understatement.

Hope that all who visit here, stay safe, warm, and make the best out of the recent brutal winter weather across the US.

Make your day the best it can be, and hope that something enjoyable may be in your plans.

It’s a nice balmy 38 degrees so not really able to go out and swing clubs on the course. Going to take the day in reveling in the win the Pack had yesterday that won me some money. Hope everyone has a good day today.

Good morning all and TGIM! (I had an old boss that used to say that at our 9AM weekly meetings)

As luck would have it this is actually my 5000th post here on MGS.

 

I'm so grateful to have found this community and now to be part of the forum staff too.  There really isn't a better forum on the internet and this thread alone is proof of that!

Looking forward to the next milestone and the continued growth of this community in our little corner of the internet here!

Good morning all and happy Monday! Still riding high off the Packers absolutely dominant performance in the wild card round against Dallas yesterday! Jordan Love was incredible, running game was strong and the biggest surprise of the day had to be that the defense played incredibly well until garbage time when MLF pulled the starters. On to San Francisco which is another tough matchup that they are once again heavy underdogs for. Best part of being the underdog is you're playing with nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Frigid temps here in Wisconsin today, currently sitting at -12 degrees with a -28 feel when factoring in the wind chill

Day off work today for the federal holiday.   Have some things to do, but everything is closed for the day so I guess I have to wait until tomorrow.   

Supposed to be cold (for me; many in the rest of the country are truly experiencing cold) and overcast so I won't head to the golf course.   Not much else going on so I think I'll head over to HQ and see what new equipment they might have gotten in over the past couple of weeks.

Good Morning everyone!  A very nice day yesterday... sunny and warmed up to 19º.  Still dark this morning and 5º but will be sunny again and 20º this afternoon... warming trend on the way!!  Should be above freezing by Friday.  Woo Hoo!  

The visit to our only golf store in town was unspectacular; new space but was smaller than their old location.  The 3 trackman bays are nice though.  They did get a putter bending machine which will be nice.

Stay warm out there my friends!!  Seems like it's colder than normal just about everywhere!!

Afternoon! Yep, happy for the lions.  

What to expect when the snow started melting over weekend? More snow this week. It’s not as bad as parts of the US (looking at you, Buffalo), but I passed a plumber’s van deep off the side of a nearby country road, settled at about 45 degrees in the ditch. It must have taken the corner too fast.

Go Pack Go!  I actually picked them to win over the 'boys.  I've got a feeling BB is going to be coaching them next year... but man of man the Packers looked good yesterday.

Although if I'm being honest with you I'm rooting for CJ Stroud and the Texans now as they are just a fun team to watch with the rookie QB!  Hopefully next weekend provides a few more close games.  Although I guess we do still get 2 more today that should be interesting! 

 

By the way, @xOldBenKenobiX you weren't at the Cowboys game yesterday were you?!  I swear they showed someone in the crowd that looked exactly like you!

The Texans are a hard team to root against. DeMeco Ryans has done an amazing job with that team and CJ Stroud is super fun to watch. 

Just happy to still have a horse in the race. As I have said previously, even if the Pack had been on the other side of yesterday's outcome this season was still a massive success with how Love progressed throughout the year. Everything else now is just icing on the cake! A win at SF would be crazy, CMC against our defense legitimately terrorizes me lol. But I have to give Joe Barry some credit as the defense was aggressive early against Dak which lead to the picks, which is hard for me to do as I am a major critic of his. 

Lions win has the NFC North looking good and if the Pack bow out next week, I will be pulling for the Lions if they keep advancing!
