Golf league last night.   Game seems to be slowly coming back.  Tee shots are pretty good,  irons are solid but struggling a little with distance, short game contact is good distance control needs work,   Lag putting is decent, not as good as I would like in the 4-8’ range

4/6 FW, 3 GIR with 3 more just in the fringe, 16 putts.    +4 for a 38.

9 holes this morning, and it was a horrendous ball striking day. The miseries were compounded by the fact that the course I was playing had really bad winter die-offs on the greens, so the ones that were in use were absolute pinball machines (they had temporary greens on a few holes that had less than 40% grass coverage). I had one putt actually bounce 10" up in the air halfway to the hole!

The lone bright spot in the round was that I managed to get positive strokes gained off the tee, which is the first time I've done that in a while.

Yesterday I had a very satisfying round of golf.  I had mentioned last week that after a two month delay,  I was able play.  While 12 over was not my ideal, but considering that I had not touched a club in such a long time, I was not complaining... too loudly. lol.  Yesterday I played again, but this time at a more difficult course.  I was able achieve 9 over, so (insert happy face here), I am feeling good.

There's a quote from 'Ferris Bueller,' which goes, 'How can I possibly be expected to handle school on a day like this?'  And today was one of those days! 80 and sunny in the Seattle area, so I ditched the day job to go play at the local muni - par 71 (67.1 / 112).  Ball striking is coming along, thanks in part to a massive influx of confidence in the Driver with the new Callaway AI Smoke Max (9*).  Went 41-39 with 34 putts on greens that were punched days ago. Went 9/18 on GIR, with misses really close.  Getting excited for what's to come!

Played much better today! 44 / 39 for a decent 83. Only one birdie and only one double as well. Took me a bit to get on line, but once there I settled down to a round more reminiscent of my game before the latest surgery.

It was fun in the sun today!

Got out yesterday with @DiscipleofPenick at the same course I had my best-ever 77 last year. I shot a 40/46 from the tips (only 6600 yards from those tees) for +3 over my course handicap. Struggled with the driver and had way too many doubles on the 2nd 9 due to being out of position. I still like the layout, even though I didn't play as well. I'll be playing there more often. The course played quite a bit longer than last year due to steady rain all day Thursday — on number 8 it was D, 7i last year; D, 7w yesterday.

Old Donald Ross course yesterday (Triggs in Providence RI). Most know his course philosophy... he'll allow you to make it to the green in a fair fashion.... then he ***ks ya. Doubly so if putting on just punched greens.

Lots of wouldacouldashoulda yesterday. 2 personal highlights being 1) only one double bogey for an errant 2nd shot that went into the water on the 17th hole (that it had no business being anywhere near... hands too quick and club was WAY open at impact) and 2) Bogeys and pars (and 1 birdie which got me a nice skin) otherwise - No real "blowup" holes other than on 17. And when I say bogeys... 12 of them. Which brings me to my next point...

Personal low? I'm not kidding when I say I missed 7 putts within 3 feet (5 of them within 2 feet) but still had 33 putts. Mostly because of the punched greens, but I will concede that 2 were slight pulls. Everything else was dead center to the cup, bump, kick left or right to tap back in. Why? I die the ball into the hole... I don't trust giving it a solid hit for fear of missing and having a much longer putt back. Maybe that's what I have to work on this year? Just a little more firm and trusting to take out the break and slam it to the back of the cup.

Finished 2nd in my net Stableford flight, 1 point out from T1, or 2 points out from the win. See above. I had many other opportunities I failed to capitalize on. And others probably did too.

Hey MyGolfSpy Community,

Today I hit the ground for an 18-hole round at Golf Lorette near Québec City. I teed off solo at 5:15 PM, enjoying the mild early summer weather.
I managed to score an 85, and while all my shots felt solid, my alignment and putting were slightly off at times—this, notably, without my wedges as my old ones are sold and the new ones haven’t arrived yet… I had to play a lot of bump and run, not always in easy situations.

My round ended with a couple of hiccups—double bogeys on the 17th and 18th due to a water hazard and an out-of-bounds. But overall, I had some great sensations with average drives around 245 yards, hitting 54% of fairways and 39% of greens in regulation, and averaging two putts per hole.

Post-round, I headed to the Top Tracer range at L’Hetriere to test out their facilities. I participated in the internal drive contest and, after several hits around 270-275 yards, I smashed one to 298 yards, another to 299 yards, and finally a personal best of 314 yards!
Check out the photo attached. (Corentin95)
This is the first time I broke the 300-yard mark with a ball speed of 155 mph and a perfectly straight trajectory, the feeling was absolutely electric.

All in all, a fantastic day of golf!

Fairly breezy and a little chilly today but it was still a great golf day.   Full swing shots were solid,  approach play was acceptable but not hitting a lot of greens.  Putting was mediocre and I left a lot of putts short; need to work on speeds control a little.    Biggest problem was distance wedges;  hit those pretty poorly most of the day.  Had a few shots where the club just went under the ball and I got no distance.

8/13 FW, 6 GIR, 30 putts.    38/39:77

I went on vacation and played back to back rounds at LPGA in Daytona. First round driver was useless but irons were fine. Second round I was striping it, but then unable to find a green.

Yesterday I played locally and the results were awful. A lot of decent drives but then unable to do anything with them. The most annoying part was playing behind a (fairly quick) foursome as a single. They were so fast of the tee I couldnt catch them between holes. Even when I played through, they hit their shots as I'm trying to get past them.

Started our clubs match play tournament this weekend. Supposed to be in flights with similar handicaps. They either mixed up my handicap, or the guy I was playing against. Guy whipped my tale in 13 holes. He was 3 over through 13... I was 20 over. Needless to say, I do not think I am going to make it very far into this tournament.

Had a beautiful weekend and was able to get out for 18 yesterday. Had my best round in a very long time, especially compared to last season. 44/47/91, with 5 pars and 1 birdie. Sadly, I also had a quad and 2 triples. 😞 The round of a 20 hdcp, but one that's getting better.

I started the round with 3 straight pars. The most stunning part was the par on 1. I don't think I've ever parred that hole before, and I've probably got over a hundred rounds there. It has 2 forced carries over water (front of the tee, approach to the green). My drive was only about 210 (breaking in the TM BRNR mini) which left me about 175 to the middle of the green. I hit a 5 iron a tad thin, but was able to carry the water and land just left of the green but short of the bunker. Up and down for par. That greenside pond has more than a few of my balls, which is why I don't par that hole. The quad on 5 was due to a couple things. It's a decently long par 5 with a pond about 225 from the tee. I hit a great 3w to the end of the first fairway into the middle of the fairway just back from the edge. Then I topped my second 3w and ball rolled down the slope but stopped just before the water. I made a smart play and used a 7 iron to get across the water and into the short rough just left of the cart path. My approach shot was a good one, but it was a little right and land into the back bunker. When I got to the green I realized just how horrible of a break I had. The ball not only plugged, but it plugged into the very back edge of the bunker and the down slope just below the grass/sand transition. Having no real idea how to properly play that shot, I did what I thought was best. I took my 60* and aimed right of the green to try and get the most sand possible and not try to aim towards the middle which would require the horrible hero shot which I know I didn't have. I got the ball about halfway down the length of the bunker and it hit just on the upslope, about a yard away from escaping the bunker. But it left a more traditional bunker shot, which I thinned about 50 yards back down the fairway. I won't droll on with how it turned out, but it was more than a little frustrating. Both my quads on the back nine were on par 3's, which is never a good thing.

My GIR was 6/18 with a lot of fringe putts and my FIR was 5/14 with plenty of 1st cut tee balls. I had 32 official putts, but a few more fringe putts on top of that. Overall, I was very happy with all three numbers especially with a mini driver I'd never used on course before.

The above SG for the round is a big deal for me. Why? The SG Approaches is the first time in the 10 rounds I've been above 0. To give you an idea of how big of a deal that is, my very first round with my Shot Scope tracking was on 8/6/23 and my SG Approach was -10.46. I've been slowly improving, but this is a big deal, at least to me.

There are 2 things that I'd say has led me to this improvement. 1- the lessons I've been taking with my PGA coach over the last 5 months, working specifically on the iron swing. 2 - the swing training aid he had me use on our last lesson. The Leadbetter Swing Setter has been a huge help with getting my hands ahead of the club head and reducing my flip at impact which has been my biggest issue in my iron swing. It's a relatively simple premise with the aid, but the results have been pretty great so far. I haven't added full speed back into the mix which is why my distances are a down a little. But the contact has been so much better on the course. A third thing that's helped my approach game is taking more club than needed and not trying to kill it. A great example of that was the 11th hole (my birdie hole). I was about 107 out and left of the fairway in the rough. This is more or less an in-between distance for my PW/50*. I could have tried to step on a 50* and likely come up short, or I could have taken a little of a PW and likely add more control to the shot. I went with option B, and it landed in the center of the green and rolled to the back hole location within 3 feet of the hole for the gimmie birdie. I've been doing more of this lately and it's paying off with better contact and more accurate iron play. I'll start to slowly add speed back into my swing now, but ensure I don't lose my impact quality and regress.

So all in all, lots of positive from yesterday's round. I'm probably more hopeful for my upcoming season than I've been in a very long time.
