How'd you play?

Weird weird weekend for me.
Friday I had to have our Golden Retriever put down.  He'd been deaf for well over a year, several lumps on him, was looking increasingly thin no matter how much we fed him, and over the last 3-4 days I'd been having to carry him up the 3 steps from the backyard into the house.  He was 9...vet said he looked about 13 and he agreed it was time.  5 military moves in 9 years might have taken a toll on him.
Then Saturday, my mind not being totally wrapped up in golf, I went and shot a personal best 75!  67% GIR, with the putter holding me back from a really great round (33 putts). Today, new personal best 74, 67% GIR, 34 putts.  If I can just get the flatstick to warm up...
And after two awesome rounds, I came home and my dog wasn't there...downer.
Sorry all, weird post I know.  Weird weekend.

Great round. Re your pup, I can relate. In the 50 years we've been married, my wife and I have had to put down a couple of 'fur children'. Last week we found out our 12 yr old cairn has an enlarged heart and with medication she may only last another 1-2 years. Not sure I'll want another dog after that happens.

Not to get to far off topic from rounds but I can’t not talk about pups. We are talking about downsizing to 2 or 1. Had 3 and I don’t know if we can do multiple losses close together again to hard.

Just went through my first pup having to be put down (way to early) over the winter. Glad you had golf to “get away” for a bit and just play.

my son still brings it up occasionally “I miss Henry dad” very non-Chalant and not to choked up just catches up to him I think. Kills me that’s for sure. Never easy but 🙌 for the PB

Thanks man.

So golfing-wise.. went out for 9 this afternoon, and here is my tale in three parts...

The Good: 1st 3 holes - par, par, par.

The Bad: 2nd 3 holes - double, double, double.

..and..

The not terribly Ugly but cudda been better: sloppy bogey, awesome par after a great recovery shot, sloppy bogey.

Whatta CRAZEE game we play, huh??!!??

I've had the most erratic week of golf I think ever. Last Monday went out and shot 39 and played lights out. Played Thursday and shot over 50 on the back. Figured it was hot and I was physically shot from working out. Then yesterday went out and shot 49 with probably 25 feet of putts given to me. I'm not sure how you go from hitting 280 yard drives to not being able to do anything but hit low hooks everywhere but I've done it.

I can't figure out why I'm pulling across my body on the follow through but it's messing with my game.

- 43/43 = 86 (+14)
- 5/15 FIR
- 6/18 GIR (1 birdie)
- 34 Putts (4 3-putts, 9 2-putts, 4 1-putts, 1 chip-in)

Had to come back to Earth sometime, I suppose. I couldn't find my balance in my swing today and didn't strike the ball well with anything. Lots of thin toes, and then when I tried to correct it, I started getting chunky.

Still, I could have putted better if I hadn't lost my focus a few times. Two drops for balls lost/unplayable as well. Just need to clean that kind of stuff up.

Chipped in on 18 from back of the green, decent break running downhill. Was a nice end to the round, at least!

Worst 75 ever! Came to 18 1 over after three consecutive short birdie putts netted one birdie. Hit a snap hook off the tee that stayed in the fairway - 294 left on a par 5, smother hooked 5 wood into the trees and on and on it went to double.

But the heat index was well north of 110 - I may have been gassed.

Still - 75 is my number when I’m playing well - under good, over bad, on it....

Strange night tonight. Had a bogey-free round until the 7th: double, par, par, double, par, triple, bogey, par, par. Could have been a very good night, but three times I left myself awkward chips I had to keep low because of trees, one of those had to carry a bunker, too. Didn't pull any of them off very well. I was hitting irons well so I did manage to par all three par 3's on this nine. Driver was pretty good - no big misses so I usually had a shot.

Was a few days ago but played Bryan Park Players course Greensboro NC Thursday and shot my new low of 73 (+1) the biggest disappointment of the round was I finished with 4bogies on 15-18. Everything was going well and whenever I missed a green I got up and down. 2-3 putts and 2 fairway bunkers just messed me up the last few holes. I was excited but so frustrated at the same time

Started with 3 straight pars.  Then my driver decided it was time for the lefts and i decided to hit the center of the clubface with my irons.  Flew the last 6 greens from various distances.  No 3 putts and a solid day for my short game however.
