Had a good round and the driver worked most of the day.  Felt like I was finally hitting up on the ball.  Had one bad hole that cost me a tap in "birdie" but ended as a par because of an unplayable.

At the start of every year I usually play better than expected for the first few times out, and then it suddenly goes bad for a couple weeks. This like, like always, I played reasonable for three 9 hole rounds. Today was my first 18 of the year, and I was hoping to avoid the drop. The first two holes went well, then the drive on 3 was left, but OK. I had overhanging branches, but I thought I was clear based on my practice swings. Nope, caught them badly on the real swing, and it all went downhill from there. I had some good shots, but when I started playing "today's swing", and taking extra club, I got my good swing, and went long. (That does tell me a lot.) I hope to keep this year's "opening slump" as short as possible.

Please add slope and course rating, for the new format. Much appreciated.

Played this round with 2 different groups at two different times during the day.

Front 9 with some retired military friend's mid-morning, then back 9 late afternoon with regular playing partners.

Front 9 hit 6 of 7 fairways, 7 of 9 greens with 17 putts for a total of 37. Had 2 bogies and a birdie.

Back 9 hit 5 of 7 fairways, 6 of 9 greens with 16 putts for a total of 39. Had 2 double bogies and a birdie.

Hoping to get another round in over the weekend, weather permitting.

Played pretty good for the first time playing 18 with the new Takomo irons. Still will take some time to get used to them but so far very happy. 

Had a few blowup holes (because I went brain dead) that hurt my score. Had a few birdies, one of which was 43ft away and drained it!

The Odyssey AI#1 CH  (AKA- LUCILLE) was impressive to say the least distance and line were good with contact so smooth(god I love this thing)and no 3 putts, average distance on lag putts was approx just over 3ft.

Only disappointment was the Bridgestone RX Mindset, sounded like plastic coming off the new irons, only good thing was I was able to make it dance when needed and rolled nice on the green. The mindset function I can take it or leave it.

Today was a miserable day, and I couldn't even blame it on the hot weather this time.

I had a 2pm tee time today and the clouds quickly blew in as the afternoon t-storms started to threaten. By hole 6, the horizon was a dark, ominous grey, and our foursome started looking up the rules around a 9-hole raincheck. That kept the temp down with no direct sun and generally cool winds.

But my game wasn't firing today. Nothing was behaving, especially my putter inside 6 ft. Based on Golfmetrics, I generally make those 97-98% of the time. Today I made one of them.

Only 3 fairways and only 3 GIRs. «sigh»

Back to practicing. "Technical, technical, technical."

Some nice rounds being posted in the early season. We have a tournament this weekend, here is a shot of the weather forecast up here . I cannot wait to get down with on-site testing and get back to our FL residence. May as well be in frickin Antarctica.

Finally got a chance to play the Pete Dye course that I have lived in the neighborhood for 3 years. My dad and I had a great time. I actually scored pretty well for me. Especially with all the bunkers everywhere, I’m not use to that. Still hit 4 OB, that’s costing me shots every round. It’s a beautiful course.

Had a nightmare of a round. I went to the range prior and couldn't hit a single wedge (i.e., shots inside 100 yds). The round went as I had feared: Terribly.

I am glad you posted this. I see you played here earlier in the week and shot a 65. This goes to show the variability from round to round, even for really good players. Appreciate it and bad rounds happen. I feel better about my 102 I posted.

Much better day today. It was hard out there. They hadn’t cut the greens with all the rain. So, they were grainy and extremely slow. When usually they are fast. The two 8 handicaps shot 87/94 and the 12 shot 95. I managed a nice 75. Blue tees with a rating of 69.1 and slope of 123. Hit 11 fairways and 11 greens. Had 3 natural birdies.

three 3-putts and three doubles today didn't help. Just one of those days. Greens were inconsistent and I missed a 3 foot birdie putt that would have given me a double skin added insult to injury. But hey, I was outside getting wet all day so
